Yesterday India won the T20 Cricket World Cup, beating South Africa in the final with a great come from behind victory. After setting a Score of 176 for 7 Wickets India looked to be in trouble as South Africa were running that total down comfortably getting to 151 for 4 Wickets in the 17th over. Then with only 26 runs needed off 24 balls and with 6 wickets in hand they lost their powerhouse Heinrich Klassen and went on to collapse to 169 for 8 Wickets – falling just 7 runs short of the Indian total.
It would have been another devastating loss for the South Africans as they have developed a reputation for “Choking” during big matches and they’ve done it again in this World Cup. India were deserved winners having gone through the entire World Cup undefeated. The way that Indian Death Bowlers Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah closed out the match in the final 4 overs of the game was incredible and they earned Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards respectively.
The Sweepstakes that I ran for the Super 8s has also now been resolved. SGS Legend had drawn South Africa so she wins 2nd place and 12 HBD, while
(me) had drawn India and so I win the 28 HBD. This is kind of the reason why I don’t like being in my own Sweeps. I only had a ticket because I couldn’t sell the full 8 and didn’t want to cancel the Sweep. However, the draw was fully transparent and I did win fair and square so hopefully there’s no complaints.
Today I’ve put the Winnings from this Sweepstakes into Tickets for the upcoming SGS Monster Raffle so we’ll see if I can win something there and then I can decide what to do with it then. If those raffle tickets don’t win then that’s just an extra donation toward SGS so that’s all good too.
