Los Tricky Trees son uno de los equipos históricos de Inglaterra, pues en su época dorada al final de los años 70', lograron levantar la Copa de Europa en dos ocasiones consecutivas, consiguiendo además un récord muy llamativo, pues son los únicos que tienen en su palmares más copas continentales, que ligas de su país, pues únicamente han sido capaces de ganarla en una oportunidad, en 1978. Luego de esto, no pudieron mantener ese nivel, lo que los llevó a deambular muchos años por la segunda división de Inglaterra, haciendo apariciones momentáneas por la Premier League, donde hasta hace un par de años, por fin logró consolidarse.
