In the end, Coman was the player who scored the most important goal of this season, the only goal in the Champions League final! I didn't know this but it turns out this player was from the junior divisions of PSG. It is a funny fact how this team has spent hundreds of millions of oil money from Qatar in new players, only to lose the most important match of its history thanks to a goal from one of its ex junior players.
The match was entertaining but it was clear both teams had massive respect for each other. We didn't see Bayern's superiority as in previous matches and PSG wasn't able to feel comfortable neither. Neymar missed a few chances but that is becoming a regular occurrence with him even though he is an amazing player, and Mbappe had a few misses as well.
I saw Bayern better positioned in the field since the beginning of the match but in the first half, PSG had several good opportunities to score the first goal thanks to their fast strikers. It surprised me to see Bayern applying its high-pressure strategy against PSG, they didn't dominate as much as in previous matches but in the end, it worked out for them.
I believe Tuchel made a mistake when substituting Di Maria, he was the best of his team, and leaving him on the field would have been a better choice. Bayern's substitutions, on the other hand, had more sense.
Even though Lewandowski didn't have an awesome match despite the fact he almost scored a goal, he should be the winner of the individual trophies from UEFA and FIFA, if these aren't canceled like the Ballon d'Or. He was the best player of the season and he deserves this recognition. The goal scorer, Coman, was a surprise for me. I was expecting Lewa, Muller, or Gnabry to be the ones scoring for Bayern.
I was also surprised to see Icardi on the bench for the entire match, he didn't even play 1 single minute. He was the main striker of the team for most of the season but he didn't play in the final nor in the semifinal. I wonder if he was injured but as far as I know he was healthy and available for play.
Bayern Munich is, without doubt, the best team of the season, no other team was able to beat them in this competition and they won every match deservedly. They now have 6 Champions League in their history the same as Liverpool, one less than Milan and they are still far from Real Madrid's 13 trophies.
Congratulations to Bayern for this historic season.
