Gnabry just had the best match of his career. He scored 2 goals in the Champions League semifinal against Lyon and the first one was a total beauty. Pure strength and energy with an excellent finish. Let's not forget this player also scored a tremendous goal against Barcelona a few days ago. The other goal scored was from Lewandowski, a header in the 88-minute mark.
However, I am disappointed with Lewandowski even though he scored a goal, his match wasn't very good, and I am not seeing the competitive beast he was during the season. I hope he has a good final but PSG's strikers are in better shape as far as I can see.
In the first 15 minutes, Lyon was better than Bayern, they had like 3 good opportunities to score a goal and missed them all. The same happened against Barcelona in the first 15-20 minutes, Barcelona had more chances than Bayern. But once Gnabry scored the first goal with an incredible individual play, then Lyon started to become less dangerous and Bayern gained more confidence.
I must say, after watching this match against Lyon, that Bayern chances of beating PSG aren't as high as I though. It is true they scored 7 goals against Chelsea, 8 against Barca, and 3 against Lyon even though they slowed down in the second half to save energy for the next match. They have destroyed all of their opponents, yes. But PSG's strikers are super fast and have a good finish when facing the goalkeeper. Lyon strikers were fast today but had poor finish and Barcelona strikers are slow.
I am not lying when saying that Lyon could have had scored 2 goals in the first 15 minutes if it wasn't for their crappy strikers. If those opportunities were in the hands, or rather the feet, of Mbappe, Neymar, or Di Maria, there would have been several goals. Bayern will not be able to apply its high-pressure strategy against PSG without an enormous risk of facilitating a deadly counter-attack from PSG. Also, Bayern's central defense is slow and sometimes they can be clumsy. I am sure Neymar & Mbappe have the capability of causing tons of troubles for them and will score a few goals, the only doubt is if Bayern will be able to score more goals than them?
I am clearly expecting a final match with a lot of goals from both sides, each team is capable of scoring 3 goals, and even more so it will be an exciting battle for sure. The contrast with the previous Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham couldn't be bigger.
These 2 teams have won all of their national tournaments and are clearly the 2 best teams of the season. I think Bayern has more chances to win but not by much. They do have more experience in the tournament but PSG has players with a lot of experience from previous clubs.
Which one do you think is going to be the Champions League winner?
