I guess nobody is surprised City won this game, I am even sure there aren't that many people surprised at the score. This is one game I could not afford to miss, Guardiola is in no position to lose his UEFA CL aspirations so soon, so I really expected a Manchester City hurricane. But the first goal came unexpectedly, a VAR decision, it seems the ball clipped off the City players head and slightly touches the outstretched arm of the Leipzig player. I have no doubt it was a handball, even though I could not see a single 100% view of that arm touch. What I know is if VAR wasn't around this would have not been given.
Anyway Halland scored the penalty, a very well placed shot, he is good at that, and from then on the game belonged completely to City. Halland just kept scoring, it seems like he has a magnet and any ball the goalkeeper or defense tries to kick away just lands at his feet and he just pushes the ball in. No, he is not at Maradona or Messi skill level, but he is a way better goal scorer than either of them. He scored five, I wonder what they call that, you know three is a hat trick. Apparently it is called a hand or a poker but I am not sure.
City scored two more goals to even out a 7-0 win, yes, they were much better than Leipzig who were incapable of anything near a come back. Not a bad team but this was a Halland night so nothing to do about it. A great game to watch, even though I must say I was thouroughly disappointed with Guardiola. Taking Halland out was not a good thing to do.
Here is how things stand, a few years back, we, as in Honduras, played Norway in an under 17 World Cup (I think it was under 17) Halland scored 9 goals against us, which is his record. So I am always rooting for him to score ten goals, I thought today would be the day. But no, Guardiola pulled a fast one on me and today was not it, but I do think the ten goal day will come.
