Six Days! Just six days is what is standing between us and the start of the premier league. Haha. My appetite is whetted for this. I will be sure to do a lot of writing about football so look forward to it and never get tired of me. Haha.
Talking about that, did you watch the FA Community Shield that was played today?
Please tell me you didn't miss that game. It was a joy to watch. Been a while since we saw such a brilliant and intense game of football. Haha. Lemme take the honour of breaking it to you;
Liverpool has won the charity shield.
Liverpool is glad to win this. The fans are excited. The players are also happy. This is part of history for us and to put things into context, it has already been 16 years since we last won this. Now, the deadlock has been broken.
Don't worry y'all. I won't blow this out of proportion. But I'm allowed to be excited, ain't I?
While watching this game, there were so many bants going on in the viewing center. I was also keeping a tab on the banter going-on on Twitter. Haha. I've always said that football fans are unbelievably talkative especially when they are watching a live game. The banter was unreal.
I was not surprised when people became salty after Manchester City got an equalizer in the 70th minute of the game. By the end of the whole game, I started hearing that Community Shield is an insignificant trophy. Haha.
How salty would opposing fans have to be to say that?
To those who call it insignificant silverware, feel free to sneer all you want. It's cool. Haha. I don't mind seeing such a distasteful reaction from people who belittle a trophy, but I'm so glad we won this. Call it insignificant all you want. I genuinely believe all silverware is significant... Even a cup of tea.
For the record, today's performance isn't a guarantee that Liverpool will be having a good season. Not at all. What we know for a fact is that these games show you what to expect from certain players as we await the proper start to this season.
Match Statistics
I will take a few moments to highlight the stats from today's game.
That's the final scoreline and most of those goals were scored in the second half of the game. Have a look at the goal scorers
You need to see the look on my face when the goal scored by Alvarez was being reviewed by VAR. It was already ruled out as an offside, but action had to be stopped when the center referee was communicating with VAR officials. 10 minutes later, I found myself screaming for the VAR to be reviewed for a penalty in favour of Liverpool. Haha.
It's crazy how we get to feel so many emotions within the space of 90 minutes. This is so exciting. To have a look at the rest of the stats, feel free to check LiveScore. Haha. Have fun with those numbers.
While watching this game with folks, I discovered that there is still an interesting argument about if Liverpool are going to regret their choice of selling Sadio Mane.
Hmmm... What do you think?
I will be sharing my take on that in my next publication to Sports Talk Social.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma
