It has so far been an interesting pre-season tour for Liverpool. This preseason surely didn't start the way we expected. Our first pre-season match exposed our vulnerability in the hands of Ten Hag's Manchester United. Bangkok erupted when Manchester United had that massive win.
I still can't say what exactly went wrong, but we have to pretend that game never happened because it was an embarrassing one. Haha. Thankfully, Klopp and the boys showed brilliance in subsequent games and Liverpool became a joy to watch, again.
For today's discussion, we will briefly look at what's left of this pre-season schedule. We will do that in a minute but here is a drop-down of the game that has been played and the scoreline;
July 12: Manchester United 4 - 0 Liverpool.
July 15: Liverpool 2 - 0 Crystal Palace.
July 21: RB Leipzig 0 - 5 Liverpool.
That's a 2/3 winning ratio with a +3 goal difference. A fair start for a pre-season, right? What I like about all these is that each game keeps getting better and the squad are becoming sharper and fit for the season proper. The new lads have also been fitting into the team nicely.
I said an awful lot of things about Nunez and Carvalho in a post I published last week after Liverpool's win against Leipzig. In a nutshell, these guys are fitting into the team and I won't have anyone give them the sticks until the season proper.
You'd know we have another pre-season game today, right?
A game against RB Salzburg is scheduled to hold today, 19:00 WAT.
I've joined discussions on YouTube and seen comments on Twitter about this game. It's not a surprise that many people are thinking this will be an easy game with a high scoreline for Liverpool.
I'm tempted to say the same, but I won't be high with my expectations because this is still a pre-season with nothing significant at stake. In addition to that, we have a competitive game against Manchester City, to be played on 30th July. All eyes will be on that one.
2 - 0 win for Liverpool in today's game will be a good one. As usual, I think Klopp with play a different XI for both halves of the game just to get everyone into the grind.
Our final pre-season game will be played against Strasbourg in Anfield, Liverpool. 31st July is the date.
Don't miss any of these.
