Where did Mou's men got it wrong?
In my last post while previewing the match, I talked about how Mou will setup his team whilst Tottenham will sit back, do the marking and do the counter attack, and it turned out to be their managers game plan.
Tottenham were very woeful in the first half, they aint taking the initiatives/proceedings, they started last and allow Chelsea to dictate the play. Perhaps relying to counter Chelsea after doing the playing. The players were very slow and not throwing balls into Chelsea goal area. There is nothing wrong with Mou formation, this is evident in the second half, same players but are ready to play after some pep talk from manager who will be disappointed with his team performance at half time.
Chelsea did well for themselves by playing extra men at the wings, Alonso and james thereby curtailing spurs run at the run, again Tuchel must have really studied mou tactics and started the match in front foot, high pressing, move the ball more quicker and play to the flanks, since there are players like Hudson Odoi,james and Alonso which can make runs with the ball, dribble and cross the ball the penalty area.
What does this mean for jose Mourinho and Tottenham?
For Mourinho this is the first time in his managerial career losing 2 consecutive matches at home, mou doesnt like records like this and for the team they are now in 8th on the table with a game in hand and 7 points behind the number 4th team on the table. A quite disappointing match and they are lucky they played that in an empty stadium.
- Chelsea fans will be proud right now, the forgotten guards are the one doing the job for the new manager, the likes of jorginho,Alonso and Rudiger these are players that are surplus to requirements under the former manager lampard, like Thomas Tuchel said he will give chance to every player, now hes able to get the best of them.
Has chelsea found their own klopp?
I must say Tuchel masterclass was the reason they won this match.
With this win chelsea now move to 6th position just 4 points behind liverpool who sits in 4th position.
3 matches for tuchel, 7 points out of maximum 9, 3 goals scored, none conceded. Is he the right man for chelsea, i think hes proving that, for how long will he be at Chelsea? Only time will tell.
