Now let us shift focus to the premier league. I consider the premier league to be the toughest teams in the world but I don’t buy into the idea that when the top teams in other leagues come they will find it hard. It’s an absurd idea which have been created and promoted by people who don't even watch other league.
Well, lets save that topic for another time.
Today the matches I will he previewing are 8. Thsp ey will be played tomorrow. Imagine the excitement on my face when I realized the first match starts as early as 11:30 am. The matches I will be previewing are listed below.
Leicester City Vs Manchester City
Bournemouth Vs Tottenham Hotspur
Brentford Vs Wolves
Brighton Vs Chelsea
Crystal Palace Vs Southampton
Newcastle United Vs Aston Villa
Fulham Vs Everton
Liverpool Vs Leeds United
Leicester City Vs Manchester City.
Early kickoffs have become something like a curse this days. When you see an early kickoff match you should try as much as possible to stay far away from it. Investors will understand what am trying to say.
Lately Leicester have been on a bad run of form and City could pile up their misery when they face each other tomorrow at the king power stadium. On paper this looks like an easy win for Manchester City, why do I say it like this? Leicester City are currently 17th on the premier league standing with just 11 points. The 18,19th and 20th all have 9 points. This whole season they have lost 7 matches already out of 12 played.
Their defense have been shambles and if care if not taken Halaand will exploit them for another hat-trick tomorrow.
City on the other hand know they need to win this to climb on top of the table tomorrow. They are currently second with 26 points, just 2 points behind Arsenal who are first. With a win they will overtake arsenal with a single point being the difference. They have the chance to stay at the top for a whole day and if Arsenal loose, they stay there a little much longer.
The last time these 2 sides faced each other was at the Etihad stadium where Mancity beat them by 6 goals to 3. In the reverse fixture at the king power stadium city could only beat them by a goal to nil. In recent years City find it difficult to defeat Leicester City at the King power stadium. With how things are looking I am backing the 1-1 draw option.
Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur
This week has been a bad week for the spurs. After losing back-to-back premier league games to Manchester United and Newcastle United they still messed up in the champions league mid-week. They need a reaction and they need to do it real fast if they want to show to the world what they really are.
This time round I know it’s against Bournemouth so they will look to keep the ball. I keep wondering why with all this players, Conte still chooses to play on the counter. It’s these types of games that you have to win if you want to be a top 4 contender and stay there. They are currently 3rd with 23 points. With a win tomorrow they will keep their spot in the second place.
Bournemouth have started this season rather well. They are 13th who was not expected of them but they need to do better. They have lost back to back premier league games and they will need a reaction tomorrow. Spurs are a defensive team but when you attack you can score against them. Bournemouth will know all about this and they will try to exploit that.
In their last encounter they played out a nil nil draw. In the previous encounter, it ended with spurs defeating them by 3 goals to 2. Spurs scored 3 goals first but almost squandered it.
For this encounter I will give it a 2-1 win to spurs since both teams are fighting to redeem themselves.
Brentford Vs Wolves
The bees have had a bad run of form lately but the same can be said about wolves. In fact wolves have had it worse. Out of their last 6 games they have only won 1. Both teams need a redemption but both teams are miles apart when it comes to form.
Brentford are a better place right now even after they were smashed by Villa last weekend. This is a different opponent who are still trying to find their way after sacking their manager.
Wolves are a shambles right now and if nothing is done it will become worse. They have moved from the team that terrorized a lot of big teams to not being able to progress with the ball into the opponents box. A clear example was against Chelsea. Chelsea rotated their squad and still got a better of them. The last time these 2 sides faced, it ended with wolves taking the edge as they won by 2 goals to 1. In the previous one Brentford won by 2 goals to nil.
This time around they are playing at Brentford’s home where they will have their electric fans. Beating the bees at home is as difficult as you would imagine. Playing at Brentford community stadium and considering all this action, I will give this a 3 nil win to Brentford.
Brighton Vs Chelsea.
I think this will be one of the most exciting matches to watch tomorrow. Chelsea’s manager Potter will be facing his old club Brighton, a club he left about a month ago to join Chelsea after they paid his for his release.
Brighton over the weekend was wonderful against City, for a team that posses the ball it was nice to see them do the same with city. They know their opponents and they don’t always seem to be afraid of what they are facing. We all know what their manger want and tomorrow we will be certain that they will take the game to Chelsea.
Chelsea on the other hand struggled to beat Salzburg mid week. After drawing against United they hope they can put that performance behind them. Against United they were outplayed for most part of the game and one can say they were lucky to get that penalty.
Life for their new striker doesn’t seem to be working out well either and they will hope that he can find his best form tomorrow. This will be quite interesting cause Potter knows all about this Brighton team but I don’t think he will be able to do much against them. For this encounter I will give it a 3-1 win to Brighton even though Chelsea hasn’t lost a match in a while.
Crystal Palace Vs Southampton
Patrick Viera has set Crystal Palace up to some nice football. It was surprising to see them loose in the manner that they did against Everton last weekend. I was one of the people who thought Palace was going to smash Everton since they have had very bad form lately.
Well, it seems they had other ideas and pulled up a great performance. Palace needs a response and that should be against Southampton.
Southampton on the other hand fought hard to get a deserving draw against the league leaders Arsenal and they will be hyped to face Palace. This will be interesting to see how it will pan out. Currently one point stand between the two sides and whoever losses will have to bare going down the table.
The last time these 2 sides faced each other palace came out on top with a 2-1 win. Their previous encounter before this ended up in a 2-2 draw. For some reason am seeing a similar scenario here, for this one am giving it a 1-1 draw.
Newcastle United Vs Aston Villa
The expression money changes people was made for Newcastle. After the takeover of the club by the richest owner in the premier league, they have since been smashing it left and right. As things stand they are 4th in standings. With a win tomorrow they can either come up if spurs lose their encounter with Bournemouth.
Newcastle have been on fire and after their recent display against Spurs they will be pumped up and ready to face any team. They were able to get a draw against City and United.
Villa on the other hand thrashed Brentford by 4 goals to nil after sacking Steven Gerard. That 4-0 win didn’t impress me as we know a lot of teams tend to win after they sack their managers. All the prayers are trying to impress so that when the new manager comes in he can get playing time.
I think the previous head to head wouldn’t matter as Newcastle are not the one they faced from previous seasons. This Newcastle is stronger and resilient. For this one I will give it a 4-1 win to Newcastle.
Liverpool Vs Leeds United
Another exciting fixture. Liverpool have qualified for the round of 16 of the champions league after it looked like they wouldn’t qualify. Their last match against Ajax was not too enjoyable for the first 40 - 45 minutes but after they got their goal they were good to go.
When ever I see Leeds Vs Liverpool I remember last 2 seasons when they played that entertaining 3-4 win to Liverpool. Each time we see Leeds we see Goals, it’s either they score a lot or they concede a lot.
In their last encounter, Liverpool put 6 past them. I was one of the many people who were not surprised they conceded 6 with the way they played. The only surprising part was that they didn’t get a goal them selves. Leeds are having it real bad and are 18th on the table. This match couldn’t have come at a worst possible time.
In their last 8 matches they have drawn 2 and lost 6. Out of the 12 matches so far they have only won 2 matches. It will be difficult to predict a Leeds match but for this one I give it a 4-0 win to Liverpool.
