Today is a big day in Australian sporting. Today is the Grand Final for the Australian Rules Football League.
This final is to Australia what the SuperBowl is to the USA in terms of football finals.
The Geelong Cats will be taking on the Richmond Tigers in a historic final that is to be played away from the traditional home of the Grand Final, the MCG in Melbourne, Australia due to COVID-19 and the outbreak that has occurred in that city. Instead it will be hosted at the Gabba in Brisbane, Australia under lights for the first time in history.
It will be an interesting game after a year where most of the teams had to relocate to another state to enter a bubble to ensure the season could continue. Some teams really struggled not being near their families and away from their home grounds, whilst other excelled and went further into the finals than they have for a while.
The AFL competition has been going since 1896 and is a staple of the sporting scene in Australia. Tonights Grand Final will be exciting.
