Form Guide
Last years fixtures at the Optus stadium produced a few low scoring games but perhaps that is understandable for a new venue and a pitch that will take some time to settle in. This year, however, it's been one of the best batting surfaces around with good pace (as you'd expect in Perth) and even bounce throughout. Both these sides have the kind of attacking top orders to make use of those conditions so there is no reason to believe this won't be another high-scoring affair.
The competition is hotting up quite nicely in no small part thanks to the mid-season form of these 2 teams. The Heat were thrashed in the reverse fixture between these 2 teams a couple of weeks ago as the Scorchers slow bowlers exposed familiar failings in the home sides batting. However, since then they've roared back to life, winning their last 3 matches in convincing fashion. I still get the feeling that the Heat are something of an all or nothing side but they have already been boosted by the return of Joe Burns from Test duty and could well have James Pattison available for this one too.
The Scorchers too will see this fixture as an opportunity to move up the table and potentially into the top 4 with the early game in Sydney between the Thunder and the Hurricanes looking like it may at the very least be rain-affected. - the weather in Perth, by comparison, is set to be hot and dry!
