Fulfilled his old dream, put a snorkel on his SUV. More for appearance than for its performance. I don’t drive through Fords, but there are still useful functions. For example - the air is not taken from the engine compartment, but from above - here it is cleaner and colder. Less dust and dirt gets in. In a specialized salon, installation would be faster, but I wanted to dig deeper myself. As a result - 4 hours of work, two broken drills and a lot of wasted nerves.) In general, the entire installation process is clearly below, maybe it will come in handy for someone :)
2 Actually, the snorkel kit itself.
3 First, we seal the installation site with paper tape so as not to accidentally damage the paint
4 We mark the hole, I got a diameter of 90 millimeters. With a little margin to make it easier
5 Since I didn’t have a special crown for large diameters, I had to drill the entire circle around the perimeter with a small drill. Both the outer wing and the inner.
6 As a result - it turned out such a nice hole. At the same time, we drill holes for fasteners
7 Inside view - I was lucky that the hole did not hit the ECU block, and did not have to move it.
8 Another tricky part is drilling holes for fasteners in the rack. It is difficult to choose the angle at which to drill the rack
9 In general, I made a little mistake with the angle, so I had to suffer and put the nut through such a small hole.
10 But all the difficulties are over, we tighten the nuts, apply glue on top for tightness so that the water does not flow where it is not needed
11 From the inside, all new holes are treated with a special anti-corrosion liquid
12 Connecting to the air filter...
13 Screw the air intake on top, and you're done.
