Hello everyone!
I've been on Hive for a while but only recently discovered this community - Hive Moto.
Reading the entries, I say that this is a wonderful piece of Hive!
I want to give something from myself to Hive Moto that's why I decided to write a this post. I am not a mechanic and I do not have such automotive knowledge as many of you, but I am a driver and I have my own car that I would like to present here. I will try not to lower the local very high level with my post, but I am asking for understanding for the new one :).
My car is Subaru Forester II.
A bit of Forest history:
Forester means - resident of the forest.
The car was first presented at the Chicago Motor Show in 2002. Stylistically, the car has been generally refreshed and modernized. Versions with a 5-speed manual gearbox are equipped with 4×4 drive, with a center differential and a viscous clutch. On the 4-speed automatic variants, the power split is regulated via a multi-plate clutch.
In 2005 the car underwent a facelift. Changed e.g. the appearance of the headlights, grille and bumpers. On the occasion of the facelift, turn signals were placed in the exterior mirrors. In addition, plastic overlays have been abandoned.
The rear of the vehicle uses transparent lamps similar to those used by Lexus.
The construction was based on the floor plate from Subaru Impreza. To keep the car's weight low, the bonnet is made of aluminium, perforated side members are fitted and the front subframe is hydroformed. Thanks to these treatments, several dozen kilograms were saved compared to the traditional construction. Safety was also a priority. Thanks to innovative technical solutions and rich equipment of the cheapest versions, including, for example, front and side airbags, ABS and traction control, the Forester II passed crash tests at the highest level.
Forester II offers us a relatively spacious and well-equipped interior. Despite being built on the Impreza platform, much more interior space was obtained thanks to a much higher body. The driving position is quite high, but there is still plenty of headroom. Driving a car is facilitated by very good visibility in all directions. The soundproofing of the Subaru Forester may not be exemplary, but the sound of the boxer engine is pleasant to the ear and does not disturb.
All Forester II engines are gasoline engines. All Forester II engines are four-cylinder boxers. The opposed arrangement of the cylinders allowed to significantly lower the position of the center of gravity and reduce the vibration of the running engine.
Forester II has a refined suspension, which consists of McPherson struts at the front and self-leveling shock absorbers at the rear - SLS. Forester II has a fairly advanced 4×4 drive using a viscous clutch that does not require the driver's intervention, additionally the cars were equipped with reducers, which, combined with a nearly 20-centimeter ground clearance, allowed it to efficiently overcome heavier terrain.
A word from myself:
I was looking for the most reliable car possible. Preferably with a 4x4 drive because from time to time I have to tow a trailer and go on a dirt road. After reading many opinions and talking to people who have Subaru, my choice fell on the Forester II. Initially, I was skeptical about the car, but after driving it over 20,000 kilometers, I am a very satisfied owner. I introduced a few additions to it, e.g. I installed a hook, installed a gas system, raised the suspension by 2 centimeters, now I will perform maintenance of the chassis, however, I will write about it in the next posts.
While taking pictures, I had various visitors who liked my car :D.
I recorded a video with the presentation of the car, I invite you to watch it.
