What happened in yesterday's game was just incredible. Since everything about the World Cup began, it was always clear to me that it was only a game and I watched the matches very calmly, but in this last one I couldn't help but have a very bad time, literally. I think we were all the same because until the last second all that happened were situations not suitable for the faint of heart. It's our routine to suffer in every game, all the commentators say so and we're getting used to it, but that's what makes it even more exciting 😂.
Lo que sucedió en el partido de ayer fue simplemente increíble. Desde que empezó todo lo de la Copa del Mundo siempre tuve en claro que solo se trata de un juego y miraba los partidos muy tranquila, pero en este último no pude evitar pasarla muy mal, literalmente. Creo que todos estuvimos igual porque hasta el último segundo todo lo que pasó fueron situaciones no aptas para cardíacos. Ya es nuestra rutina sufrir en cada encuentro, todos los comentaristas lo dicen y ya nos acostumbramos, pero eso es lo que lo hace aún más emocionante 😂.
Yesterday was extremely hot: this week we are being hit by a heat wave that reached 30°C from the early hours of the morning. That's fine, we survive as we can but there is always the implicit threat of power cuts due to overloads. In my house we try to contribute by having almost everything turned off, nobody wants to be left without electricity right during the game 😅.
El día de ayer estuvo extremadamente caluroso: esta semana estamos siendo azotados por una ola de calor que marcó los 30°C desde las primeras horas de la mañana. Eso está bien, subsistimos como podemos pero siempre está la amenaza implícita de que se corte la energía por las sobrecargas. En mi casa tratamos de contribuir teniendo casi todo apagado, nadie quiere quedarse sin electricidad justo durante el partido 😅.
Continuing with the cabal that gives us luck, everyone in my house drank a can of beer while we watched the game. The weather was really unbearable and you had to drink quickly so that the drinks don't get hot: cooling down like this is dangerous but during the game in Argentina anything goes 😅.
Siguiendo con la cábala que nos da suerte, todos en mi casa nos tomamos una lata de cerveza mientras mirábamos el partido. El clima estaba realmente insoportable y había que beber rápido para que no se calienten las bebidas: refrescarse de este modo es peligroso pero durante el juego de Argentina todo es válido 😅.
In this phase of the World Cup, the matches are all or nothing since there can only be one winner, so the pressure increases for the players. In this match, the first half passed without goals: both Argentina and the Netherlands had their approaches to the opposing goals but neither could score a goal. Time passed and no one defined anything.
Already in the second half is when all the action happened. The scoring was opened by Messi scoring a penalty goal, and after a while he returned to participate in the goal play along with Nahuel Molina, who finished making it 2-0. At that point there were still like 20 minutes left in the game, which was quite a lot so we were all hoping that time would flow faster. Minutes later, the Netherlands team managed to score a point, starting with discount. We were still one goal up, but it wasn't such a sure score either.
En esa fase del mundial los partidos son a todo o nada ya que solo puede haber un ganador, así que la presión aumenta para los jugadores. En este partido, el primer tiempo trascurrió sin goles: tanto Argentina como Paises Bajos tuvieron sus acercamientos a los arcos contrarios pero ninguno pudo concretar un gol. El tiempo pasaba y nadie definía nada.
Ya en el segundo tiempo es cuando ocurrió toda la acción. El marcador lo abrió Messi anotando un gol por penal, y al rato volvió a participar de la jugada de gol junto a Nahuel Molina, quién terminó de convertir el 2-0. Para ese momento aún faltaban como 20 minutos de juego, era bastante por lo que todos estábamos deseando que el tiempo fluya más rápido. Minutos después, el equipo de Paises Bajos logró anotar un punto, empezando con el descuento. Aún estábamos un gol arriba, pero tampoco era un marcador tan seguro.
What happened next was incredible. Just as the end of the game was nearing, the referee decided to add an extra 10 minutes. When you're this nervous, 10 minutes can seem like an eternity. The players were resisting quite well, but just at the last minute, a free kick was taken in favor of the Netherlands. It was literally the last play, the last seconds of extra time, and can you believe they managed to score the goal? They marked the tie at the end, which forced them to play for another half hour. Here a few will have infarcted 😂.
Lo que pasó a continuación fue increíble. Justo cuando se acercaba el final del juego, el árbitro decidió agregar 10 minutos extras. Cuando estas tan nervioso, 10 minutos pueden parecer una eternidad. Los jugadores estaban resistiendo bastante bien, pero justo en el último minuto, se cobra un tiro libre a favor de Países Bajos. Literalmente era la última jugada, los últimos segundos del alargue, ¿y pueden creer que lograron convertir el gol? Marcaron el empate sobre el final, lo que obligó a jugar durante media hora más. Acá unos cuantos se habrán infartado 😂.
Extra time went by without glories or sorrows, although Argentina had several goal situations but none could materialize. Something that happened in this game is that there were many fouls and the referee was in charge of handing out yellow cards to everyone, including the Argentine coach, Scaloni. All this delayed the game a lot, but still no one managed to change the tie result and the definition had to be done by penalties 😫.
El tiempo extra pasó sin penas ni glorias, aunque Argentina tuvo varias situaciones de goles pero ninguna pudo concretarse. Algo que sucedió en este partido es que hubieron muchas faltas y el árbitro se encargó de repartir tarjetas amarillas a todo el mundo, incluído al director técnico argentino, Scaloni. Todo esto retrasaba mucho el juego, pero aún así nadie logró cambiar el resultado de empate y la definición tuvo que hacerse por penales 😫.
At this point I literally couldn't see anymore haha. My nerves were incredible, as if I was doing something. I just limited myself to listening to them but with my eyes closed. The one who stood out in this phase was goalkeeper Dibu Martínez, who managed to save the first two goals. Finally, Argentina ended up winning 4-3, with the last goal converted by Lautaro Martínez. Until the end everything was very fought, but the winner was defined and we advanced to the next round 😃.
En este punto yo literalmente no podía ver más jaja. Eran increíbles mis nervios, como si yo estuviese haciendo algo. Solo me limité a escucharlos pero con los ojos cerrados. El que se destacó en esta fase fue el arquero Dibu Martínez, quien logró atajar los dos primeros goles. Finalmente, terminó ganando Argentina por 4-3, con el último gol convertido por Lautaro Martínez. Hasta el final todo estuvo muy peleado, pero se definió al ganador y nosotros avanzamos a la siguiente ronda 😃.
In this way, the next game will be against Croatia on Tuesday the 13th at 4PM. There are already some superstitious due to the date of bad luck, but if there is one thing that this World Cup has shown, it is that nothing is said until the last minute and that the predictions were not exactly right. Being in the top four of the team is already a great achievement, but you have to keep going to see how far you get. The only thing I hope is that it's not as heart-stopping as yesterday, although at least we've already shown that we can resist anything ❤️.
De esta forma, el siguiente partido será frente a Croacia el martes 13 a las 4PM. Ya hay algunos superticiosos por la fecha de la mala suerte, pero si algo que demostró este mundial es que nada está dicho hasta el último minuto y que las predicciones poco acertaron. Estar entre los cuatro mejores del equipo ya es un gran logro, pero hay que seguir para ver hasta donde se llega. Lo único que espero es que no sea una jornada tan infartante como la de ayer, aunque al menos ya demostramos que podemos resisitir lo que sea ❤️.
