I had expected this to be a rather quiet week in Splinterlands seeing as there were no big announcements from the Splinterlands team after the huge news last week about Modern/Wild release. However, there were some surprises which did not come in the form of any pre announced posts, some of which caught me by surprise to be honest. 😱
A brief introduction before I start though...
Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳
This is now the 33rd consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. Of course, this also marks my 33rd weekly giveaway! 🎉🥳🎊

As I mentioned at the start, I expected this to be a quiet week in Splinterlands. However, a few hours ago, I suddenly heard quite a bit of chatter online about packs flying off the shelf. Out of nowhere, in a matter of hours, we suddenly blew past the 9 million packs Chaos Legion Sale mark and with that, THE NEXT LEGENDARY AIRDROP - GRANDMASTER RATHE 😱
Would my meagre 11 packs bought bring me any luck? The game went down for maintenance and I knew the card airdrop was imminent. 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀
Well, not this time (again) I guess 😭. Looks like all I can do is rent the card.
My quest for that elusive Gold Foil Legendary from my rewards chests continues on though 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀 (It's a 0.008% chance, at base level, to pull a legendary gold foil, in case you were wondering 😉). I'll get there some day (i hope).

Last week, I talked about the Splinterlands team announcing that Modern/Wild would probably be released at the end of July. However, I chanced upon this little tidbit in the Splinterlands Discord. 😉
What? Did my eyes deceive me?
MODERN/WILD RELEASE IS PLANNED FOR RELEASE NEXT WEEK ON THE 14TH JULY!!! 🥳🥳🥳
This is definitely way sooner than I had expected, or almost anyone too for that matter. There were no official posts/announcements and this is just about the only message I've seen from any official source with a concrete release date.
Just 4 more days to go till the end of this season and we'll see if it goes as planned then. I'm really excited over the release of the Modern format.
Weekly Chaos Legion Sales Tracker
And now, for an update on the number of Chaos Legion packs sold thus far. About 154k sold since last week. That is an amazing sales figure! 😄
These numbers are way off from the average that we've come to expect. It is about 3 times the usual average of around 50k packs/week. I guess everyone was really excited when they say the numbers moving and bought en masse to ensure the next airdrop card was unlocked.
Here's the current count (as of the moment I'm writing this post) of the number of packs sold, and we're 991k away from the 10 million mark! Yup, the counter has been "reset" for the next million. I'm sure we'll soon see details about the next airdrop in the weeks to come. 😄 Which also means everyone has a chance to get in now and grab more packs for the remaining airdrops! 😜
My fingers are crossed! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Hopefully I'll get some amazing luck for the next round! 🍀🍀🍀
