Horizontal trust cannot be restored, it can only be created. Dialogue, learning to be human, a high moral threshold (this is a very profound topic. Did you know that thieves in everyday life under normal circumstances are marauders, rapists, and murderers in emergency situations such as wars and natural disasters?) Everything begins with small changes, with the first step. Who would have thought that the philosophy proposed by N.F.S. Grundtvig allowed the Danes, three generations later, to pass trials with dignity!? Did Kristen Kold (the first school) know what results his contribution would lead to? They were unlikely to seek immediate benefits from what they did back then, but their contribution changed the course of history and set a fantastic example for others.
This isn't just a question of "trust or distrust"; it must become a philosophy of life for a large percentage of society. In poor countries and where everything is crumbling, the problem lies in society and a low moral threshold. The poorer and more stupid a person is, the more they believe they are entitled to something. In such societies, the desire to take predominates and the desire to give is almost completely absent, resulting in an imbalance.
What would happen if schools were funded centrally from the state budget, rather than decentralized by communities? Then the state would completely dictate how education should be conducted, what can and cannot be discussed, politics, and practically every politician dreams of absolute power, that is, a dictatorship.
It's all very complex and at the same time simple. The main thing that ultimately comes down to is the high moral threshold of society.
