Every time I look at my life I can’t help but be grateful to God, I am really grateful because I am not physically challenged in any way or sick, the fact that my well-being is not resting on the shoulders of anybody is an additional bonus.
I really can’t imagine what my life would have been if I was deformed in any way.
My confidence level is not yet up to 100% as complete and healthy as I am how much more if there was something wrong with me?
I know sometimes I can be an ungrateful fellow, complaining about the slightest acne that appears on my face or how emaciated I look but each time I think about everything happening in the world I take back all the rubbish I have been complaining about.
Something fueled this post or rather someone.
Mr. Tommy is a colleague of mine as well as an acquittance, Mr. Tommy is visually impaired, he has been working at my office for two years and he has been doing well, someone might be wondering what Mr. Tommy’s job description is, He is an Estate Surveyor, a very smart and good one at that, he has never allowed his condition to weigh him down.

As a staff in my office, Mr. Tommy has taken the time to learn the patterns and structures of the entire office, He can walk with his stick to the cafeteria, toilet, and various offices without the help of anybody.
Whenever I see him performing all these activities I always wonder.
Now here’s a very interesting thing about Mr. Tommy which I have always noticed, Mr. Tommy can have his lunch all by himself and you will never see food particles around the corners of his mouth, funny how people who have their two eyes open can be victims of having food particles all around their mouth or soiling their clothes but here is a man who is visually impaired doing amazing things.
He would carefully eat his lunch and clean the table he used to eat and come out refreshed.
Mr. Tommy is the only visually impaired person that I am closed to so forgive me if I sound so fascinated because I truly am.
When I say Mr. Tommy is smart, I mean he is really smart, he is the choirmaster of his church choir, he is also into real estate, Mr. Tommy just finished building his house and moved into it with his family, his wife just gave birth to a baby girl and the last time we spoke he said something about getting a car.
So we were having a conversation one day, we talked about the various beautiful cities in Nigeria and Mr. Tommy said something that broke me, he said “I remember when I was in Port Harcourt, I really enjoyed it there, I just can’t wait for these eyes to open so I can explore more”, for 5 good minutes I was mute, it was when he called my name that I was drawn back to reality.
I felt so sorry for him, apparently, he wasn’t born blind, he was in his final year of college when the awful incident struck.

Despite his condition Mr. Tommy has never stopped dreaming and aspiring for the future, he doesn’t like people to pity him as a matter of fact in the office we don’t even help him do stuff or try to be excessively nice because he is all good by himself.
I hope this story inspires you never to stop dreaming or aspiring to be better despite your condition.
This story was posted with the consent of Mr. Tommy and I promised to read out all the beautiful comments to him😃
