I don’t know how I reached this state but I’ve reached the point in my life wherein I value privacy more than ever. I cringed at the idea of how I used to publicize every move (what I eat and drink, what I think, what I do) I make. Recently, I’ve been very selective of what I share. Most things that make it out of mainstream social media are the things I’m passionate about, things I advocate and influence others with. Anything related to personal development, health and wellness, travel (which are mostly posted days, weeks or even months after the trip). And now that I think of it, it’s just here in Hive that I feel most safe. There are no prying eyes of people who only wanted to get more information to use against me in the future. I love working in silence and wearing a robe of mystery only those closest to me have access to. I turned 30 last year, so maybe it comes with the age? LOL! 😂
With that being said, it took me almost a year to post about this. Last year was our first time spending Valentine's in our newly-acquired condo unit. Only close friends know about this acquisition, too! I remember two things, (1) we didn’t want to get caught in traffic jams for the sake of celebrating Valentine’s (it gets insanely traffic here in Cebu City during Valentine’s Day) and (2) we wanted to make it more special this time around. My boyfriend came up with a brilliant idea: How about we cook at home and set-up an intimate candlelit dinner?
It made me feel even more loved when he volunteered to prep and cook everything; I know! I’m one lucky girl. We dropped by a supermarket in our neighborhood to buy the lacking ingredients and headed straight home.
While my boyfriend was preparing, all I had to do was watch him nail the cooking, take lots of photos of the charming bouquet of flowers he got for me and yeah, mostly relax and enjoy the moment. It’s our 2nd week in our house, we barely had any furniture at this point, just a plastic white table and two monoblock chairs I borrowed from my parents. He prepped some of the ingredients in advance so before I knew it, we found ourselves in front of the simplest yet most amazing dinner I had in my entire life. We had steak as the main dish and salad and potatoes on the side.
Moments like this reminds me that I don’t need a lot in life to be happy, to be contented. It’s the little things that truly count and make the biggest difference. Who needs a crown when you have a man who makes you feel like you're already a queen without even trying. And if you haven't noticed yet, we dressed nicely as if we're really eating out. 😎❤
