Whenever any crime happen, the voice for justice starts to echo everywhere. People take the oppurtunity to raise the concern against the cruelty. The most recent case had been the brutal rape case of a young medical practitioner in Kolkatta, India. Being a girl myself, such news scares me. We women has always been on the firing line, with many cruelty news. The recent case was so brutal, that it is hard to put them in words. I was shocked reading the detail and ultimately ended up making this blood-shed pencil art. It was made in a flow, joining the masses for justice against women crime.
The Kolkata rape case is the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old female trainee doctor at Kolkata's R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, 2024. The victim was a second-year postgraduate student. The case has sparked protests across the country, including in Kolkata, and has brought to light concerns about safety in medical institutions.
This is not the first time, a young women is in radar of cruelty. We had a similar case before as well. We all remember the horrific "nirbhaya" case in Delhi. The girl was raped , tortured beyond limit on new year eve. That incident too sparked protests, people raise voice, the culprits were arrested, but after so many years, where we are standing. Again protesting for a similar case, this time in a different place, but the modus very similar. Men rapes women, and then do all kind of cruelty with the body, as the women lives does not matter.
Some say that an abuse free environment is the minimum requirement for women to become more empowered. Others say that removing barriers to an unsafe environment can help women fulfill their potential. Women's safety is a major concern due to a range of factors, including gender inequality, sexual harassment, violence, and harmful cultural practices. These factors can make women feel unsafe in public spaces, at home, and in the workplace. The way women are portrayed in the entertainment industry may contribute to males taking them for granted. But we do have lives and wanted to live free like everyone.
