An Exciting Learning Adventure at Victor Attah International Airport!
On 24th March 2026, a thrilling day unfolded at Fellowship High School in Uyo, Nigeria, as we embarked on an adventurous learning journey through the skies! Our Senior Secondary School 1 (SSS 1) students were abuzz with excitement as we organised an exhilarating excursion to the Victor Attah International Airport, where they would dive into the fascinating world of air travel and transportation.
With around 40 eager students in tow, we arrived at the airport, and it was like stepping into a world of aviation wonders! The Public Relations Officer greeted us with warmth and enthusiasm, ready to guide our students on an unforgettable tour.
He informed us that the Airport is named after one of the past governors of Akwa Ibom State because he was the visionary leader who birthed the idea of the airport.

Victor Attah International Airport stands tall as one of the most modern airports in southern Nigeria, serving Uyo and the neighbouring regions. Owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government and operated by the Ibom Airport Development Company Limited (IADCL), this airport boasts a remarkable 3.6 km runway and cutting-edge facilities designed to create a bustling aviation hub.

The airport unfolds in three captivating parts:
Passenger/Terminal Area
Stepping into this lively space, travellers find the entrance and reception area bustling with activity. The ticketing and check-in counters invite eager flyers, while the waiting lounges buzz with anticipation. Security screening points ensure safe travels, and travellers reclaim their baggage in the vibrant arrival and departure sections.Airside/Flight Operations Area
Venture beyond the terminal, and enter the electrifying airside, where aircraft soar and dreams take flight! This restricted zone features the extensive runway, taxiways, and parking bays (aprons) for aircraft. The control tower oversees everything, ensuring smooth operations with crucial navigational aids and emergency response units at the ready.Technical/Administrative Area
Here, the backbone of the airport operates seamlessly, with administration offices, maintenance sections, and a major Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility. It’s where the magic happens behind the scenes!

This exciting excursion provided our students with a truly immersive experience, sparking their curiosity about the aviation industry!
