Hello, this is my first time posting in this community. I am glad that I found this because I am finding a place where I think this blog will fit. I hope you enjoy some of my shots and the story included below :))
Last Tuesday while we are having our dance practice, droplets from the darkened sky started to fall down. We have no choice but to take shelter or else we will get soaked wet.
30 minutes had passed, and the strong rain transitioned to a light and drizzle shower. We took this as an opportunity to pack our things and go home. Since I forgot to bring my umbrella I have no choice but to go with my classmates. Their route to their home is different from mine, and because of that, I have to adjust and travel longer. Despite that, I just considered that this will keep me dry and safe from possible illness that I might get from being wet from the rain.
From my University to Alabang Muntinlupa, we rode a jeepney. While I was looking outside the window of the transport vehicle I am riding, it makes me feel that I am the main character in a film, lol. During the duration of the travel, I saw the old buildings that already existed when I still lived here, which made me nostalgic. That feeling was amplified by the damp weather.
After getting off in the jeepney, I immediately took shelter because the rain is starting to pour again. I am not the only one who’s stuck in that situation because several individuals are also running towards the waiting shed to keep themselves dry. However, in just a few minutes, my impatient self started to kick in so I finally decided to run to a street vendor who sells umbrellas and bought one for myself.
I started to walk to reach the nearby transport terminal transversing to my place. I am glad that I don’t need to cross on the busy and risky road because there’s already a footbridge connected to the different parts of the city.
While I am on the footbridge, I can see the traffic build up below. Although I am kind of nervous about heights, I still tried my best to take a picture. I apologize if the image looks shaky — the rain is pouring, the steel platform of the bridge I am stepping on looks slippery, plus the fact that there are cases of phone snatching up here makes me feel anxious that I just want to finish it immediately.
This image was captured above the busy and heavy traffic. Beside the road is the Muntinlupa City Public Market which is being renovated at the moment. My grandmother is a long-time vendor there and she already witnessed all three renovations of that place. I was thinking of visiting but I might disturb her since there’s a flock of customers during these hours.
I also got to capture this infamous mall here in Alabang — the South Station. Some of the Filipino peeps who live in the South Metro might be familiar with this since it was one of the hangout places of the city. However, as time goes by the establishment slowly got abandoned. Only a few establishments can be seen outside and half of it is already closed.
This was outside and beside the South Station. There are a few establishments like Watsons, 7/11 convenience stores, Mcdonalds, and KFC. There are few people walking by so I enjoyed the calmer place.
This is a glimpse inside the South Station. It was alive, full of mesmerizing lights and you can hear some happy music in the background but look at it now. Back then I remembered that there are several boutiques here where you can buy cheap clothes, shoes, and other personal accessories. I used to go here with my parents, especially when doing Christmas shopping.
This is still part of South Station. As you can see, Padis Point, a restaurant and bar establishment once located here. My father and mother told us that they remembered hanging out in this old happy place after their shifts. But maybe due to bankruptcy or internal problems, it was shut down afterward.
Finally, I can see the yellow cabs across the street. That is where I will ride back to my city. This terminal is located also located at South Station which explains why I had the chance to wander around and capture several images of its sentimental environment
The rain again set on a drizzle mode, a calmer compared to earlier. This gave me the chance to glance again at the moody ambiance of this city before paying for my fare and entering the crowded cab. This is not probably my last seeing this place but certainly, this is not always the thing I always feel towards the city. I better indulge at this moment while it last.
