Caye Caulker, uninhabited until the middle of the nineteenth century, then a number of the refugees fleeing civil war on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula rocked up.
The settlers developed a profitable fishing industry based on cooperatives. Now Caye Caulker is a quiet, unhurried beach town.
A short walk away from the touristic areas, not knowing what to expect, a deserted run down beach through the mangroves
Through an uninspiring graveyard and voila, what do we have here then?
Belize Odyssey Resort
*"A three-star hotel located in the heart of Caye Caulker. Thanks to its recent refurbishment, our establishment exudes a pleasant and cozy vibe. Retreat to our well-equipped rooms, where your comfort and relaxation are our top priorities."
I get the feeling I am alone, not suitably dressed for climbing through windows but, this way I shall never travel again. Got to do ot.
*Amenities in the hotel rooms include a TV with international channels, mini-fridge, mini-bar, mirrors in the washroom and room, and a complimentary set of hygiene products consisting of at least two towels per person, toiletries, and a bath cap.
Now, one just knows one has made it big time when there is a mirror in the washroom, let alone two fucking towels per person.
Peel me a grape someone
.......and on some obscure booking website (hotelsmotor.com)they are still taking bookings for 2024.
Think that luxury of two towels per person bankrupted the business.
*advertising blurb on said website
A shack of boobies
Further into the mangroves a shack, a simple shack with fuck all in it
I got the wrong end of the stick again, apparently a booby is a bird.
I've never been lucky
No woman No cry
In recent years a small Creole community, mainly immigrants from Belize city has developed.
Over the fence we go
Fuck me, chainsaw massacre springs to mind
Someone needs help, a priest or their dealer, who knows. At least it isn't written in the blood of previous explorers
Caye Caulker a destination for backpackers, those on a budget and those seeking.......... high times.
