So Siri, thanks for that I commented to myself as I pulled up. “Look em in the eye and punch them on the nose” I thought, as I gazed over the gate into the far distance seeking out my nemesis. Or the author of the shit sign.
My mission which I had chosen to accept, was to reach a big old farm a few fields away and like I say Siri had hypnotically drawn me here.
“Just go for it you wuss” said a squeaky little voice in my head as I climbed the gate
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you” said a rather deep voice, which I realised was not in my head but from boiler suited farmhand that had appeared at my shoulder. “ The boss has got his bull in the field”.
“But the sign says dogs” said I ( accept nothing, question everything. Rules of my life #1).
“That’s just to put people off from going to the old place” said the boiler suit, ‘I guess that’s where you’re going, it’s all sealed up anyways”
“Well I was going for a mooch, yes. How fast can your bull run?”
“Faster than you” said the boiler suit.
I climbed back over the gate.
Walking back to the car we had a natter about UE, and why I did it. He was amazed that an old fart like me was doing it; He had only ever come across kids and didn’t trust them, which I had to agree with.
Decent bloke, even if when close up he smelled of cowshit. “ come at it from Bridal Way” he said “no bull”.
Off I drove (interlude).......three fields later...........
......I’m afraid these classy home made signs always pull me. like a moth to a flame, or a bee to nectar, and anyways is that: keep dogs out or dogs keep out?
I do so enjoy getting my leg over, so the gate proved to be no obstacle, time for a mooch. So I had a wander round the building, Boiler suit was true to his word absolutely locked down tight.
I think I was getting the message now!
Still plenty to see in the undergrowth and the outbuildings enjoy the visit.
Abandoned rotting cars and caravans lost amongst the brambles and nettles, think the graffiti is shit
Interesting treasure on the way to the outbuildings
The sheds were great, methinks the house couldn’t hold anything as it all seemed to be here
Now kids back in the day before the interweb mobile phones and Spotify we did live a life worth living.
This is a camcorder, perfect for home movies (ahem!)
And this? Go and ask ya dad/ granddad, 😂
Ancient two wheeled vehicles
Ladies and gentlemen what turned half an hours mooch into an hour; the best collection of 80’s grot I have come across in a long while!
Time for home
WOOF WOOF
