One thing I really liked about the motorhome trip was that we could park almost anywhere. As our accommodation was integrated into the vehicle, we could take our bed everywhere we went. There were even times when many of us would travel lying down while we slept, and when we woke up, we were already parked somewhere new. During our stay in the city of Bariloche, our chosen accommodation was on the shores of Lago Nahuel Huapi, right next to an abandoned construction site. With such a peculiar location, it was impossible to lose sight of the motorhome 😅.
Algo que me gustaba mucho del viaje en motorhome es que podíamos estacionarnos casi en donde sea. Como nuestro alojamiento estaba integrado en el vehículo, llevábamos nuestra cama a todos lados. Incluso había momentos en los que muchos de nosotros viajábamos acostados mientras dormíamos, y cuando nos despertábamos, ya estábamos estacionados en algún lugar nuevo. Durante nuestra estancia en la ciudad de Bariloche, el alojamiento elegido fue a orillas del Lago Nahuel Huapi, justo al lado de una construcción abandonada. Con una ubicación tan peculiar, era imposible perder de vista el motorhome 😅.
The most luxurious hotels in the city may have incredible views of the lake, but none will be as close as the one we had from the motorhome. Bariloche has a wide lakeshore, and we found the perfect place to park. The place was a bit removed from the centre, maybe 8 blocks from it, and we only passed occasional cars that were also staying to watch the sunset or to spend a few hours in the evening 😃.
Los hoteles más lujosos de la ciudad rionegrina podrán tener vistas increíbles del lago, pero ninguna estará tan cerca como la que teníamos nosotros desde el motorhome. Bariloche tiene una amplia costa del lago, y nosotros encontramos el lugar perfecto para estacionarnos. El lugar era algo retirado del centro, quizás a unas 8 cuadras de él y solo nos cruzábamos con ocasionales autos que también se quedaban a ver el atardecer o a pasar algunas horas de la noche 😃.
This place, a bit far from the centre and so quiet, was baptised by us as ‘Lovers Village’, because during the 3 nights we spent there we saw a few couples in love. But the most interesting thing was not the lovers who chose the same beach as us to spend the day, but the abandoned building next to us. We didn't quite figure out what it could have been, but we did go inside once to explore it a bit 😃.
Este lugar algo alejado del centro y tan tranquilo fue bautizado por nosotros como "Villa Cariño", ya que durante las 3 noches que pasamos ahí vimos unas cuantas parejas en situación de amor. Pero lo más interesante no era ver a los enamorados que elegían la misma playa que nosotros para pasar el día, sino la construcción abandonada que teníamos al lado. No terminamos de descifrar que podría haber sido, pero sí que entramos una vez a explorarla un poco 😃.
The building appeared to be entire on its façade, with stone walls without any apparent cladding. As is typical of such abandoned places, there was no longer a roof, doors or windows. Apparently the condition of this property was from years of graffiti and street art. It also had the appearance of being used as a public toilet, so we had to be careful where we stepped 🙃.
La construcción parecía entera en su fachada, con paredes de piedra sin ningún recubrimiento aparente. Como es típico de este tipo de lugares abandonados, ya no había techo ni puertas o ventanas. Aparentemente el estado de esta propiedad era de años en los que ya ha sido víctima de los grafittis y del arte callejero. También tenía aspecto de ser usado como baño público, así que tuvimos que tener cuidado por donde pisábamos 🙃.
In my opinion, the most interesting thing was to see the remains of the roof. Almost all the columns and beams of the building were still standing, but in the strong winds typical of the lakeshore, many of them were shaking, creaking and threatening to fall. This, together with the impending sunset and nature taking back what belonged to her, made this a rather gloomy spot. It seemed like a good time of day to go and take pictures, but I didn't want to spend the night in there 😅.
En mi opinión, lo más interesante era ver los restos del techo. Casi todas las columnas y vigas de la construcción seguían en pie, pero con el viento fuerte típico de la costa del lago, muchas de ellas se sacudían, chirriando y amagando con caerse. Esto, en conjunto con la inminente puesta de sol y la naturaleza recuperando lo que le pertenecen, hacían de este lugar un punto bastante tétrico. Me pareció un buen momento del día para ir a sacar fotos, pero para nada quería que me encontrara la noche ahí dentro 😅.
People passing through didn't stop much to enter the abandoned Lover's Village construction site while we were there. Mostly we saw some teenagers in their rebellious stage, probably hiding there to smoke and drink without anyone seeing them. I guess they would feel great to be gathered there with their friends in that ‘cool’ place, away from responsible adults. But I, who try to be a responsible adult, saw this place as dangerous because of the roof about to come off and full of rubbish all around, and at the same time I felt nostalgic that it had been left in such a condition with such a good location. I am indeed grown up now 😂.
La gente que estaba de paso no se detenía mucho a entrar en la construcción abandonada de Villa Cariño mientras nosotros estuvimos ahí. Más que nada vimos algunos adolescentes en su etapa de rebeldía, probablemente escondiéndose ahí para fumar y beber sin que nadie los viera. Supongo que ellos se sentirían geniales estando reunidos ahí con sus amigos en ese lugar "cool", lejos de los adultos responsables. Pero yo que intento ser un adulto responsable, veía este lugar como peligroso por el techo a punto de desprenderse y lleno de basura alrededor, al mismo tiempo que me daba nostalgia que lo hayan dejado en esas condiciones con tan buena ubicación. Efectivamente ya estoy grande 😂.
When night fell, I didn't even look out at the abandoned building in total darkness. A fellow traveller even dared me to go in at night, but I'm not even brave enough to do that. I settled for my little urban exploration in the golden hour, where I could get a good view of the place before it got darker. We couldn't have asked for a better location for our time in Bariloche: in addition to the beautiful Lago Nahuel Huapi, we had a bonus of something interesting to see ❤️.
Cuando la noche caía, ni siquiera me asomaba a mirar a la construcción abandonada en su total oscuridad. Incluso un compañero de viaje me retó a que entráramos de noche, pero ni siquiera soy lo suficientemente valiente como para hacerlo. Me conformé con mi pequeña exploración urbana en la hora dorada, donde pude tener unas buenas vistas del lugar antes de que se pusiera más tenebroso. No podríamos haber pedido una ubicación mejor para nuestro paso por Bariloche: además del hermoso Lago Nahuel Huapi, tuvimos un plus de algo interesante para ver ❤️.
