"Third time is the charm" would be the saying that applies perfectly when it comes to visiting the abandoned hotel in Zonda. Three times I had to go to the ravine area to finally be able to enter this hotel, since the previous times my companions were not brave enough to approach it. I must say that the wait was worth it because touring these facilities was a great experience that caught our attention, and that also made us a little scared 馃槄.
"La tercera es la vencida" ser铆a el dicho que se aplica perfectamente cuando de visitar el hotel abandonado de Zonda se trata. Tres veces tuve que ir a la zona de la quebrada para al fin poder entrar a este hotel, ya que las veces anteriores mis acompa帽antes no eran lo suficientemente valientes como para acercarse. Debo decir que esperar vali贸 la pena porque recorrer estas instalaciones fue una gran experiencia que llam贸 nuestra atenci贸n, y que tambi茅n nos hizo asustar un poco 馃槄.
After traveling an hour by public transportation to the Zonda area in San Juan province, Argentina, we arrived at this area to have lunch and, incidentally, enter this hotel that we had already been seeing on previous walks. This construction has a privileged view of the ravine from both its front and back, and although its construction was left halfway, it serves to attract curious people like us 馃槂.
Despu茅s de viajar una hora en transporte p煤blico hasta la zona de Zonda en la provincia de San Juan, Argentina, llegamos a esta 谩rea para almorzar y de paso, entrar a este hotel que ya hab铆amos estado viendo en paseos anteriores. Esta construcci贸n tiene una vista privilegiada de la quebrada tanto por su frente como por su parte posterior, y aunque su construcci贸n qued贸 a mitad de camino, sirve para atraer a los curiosos como nosotros 馃槂.
With the promise of being a large hotel complex that would accommodate visitors who wanted to rest in the Zonda ravine, this construction was abandoned shortly before completion. When we were finally able to enter, we noticed that the entire structure is almost finished, missing only the door and window openings 馃樁.
Con la promesa de ser un gran complejo hotelero que alojar铆a a los visitantes que desearan descansar en la quebrada de zonda, esta construcci贸n qued贸 abandonada muy poco antes de finalizar. Cuando al fin pudimos entrar, notamos que toda la estructura est谩 casi finalizada, falt谩ndole solamente las aberturas de puertas y ventanas 馃樁.
It is impossible for this abandoned place not to make you feel a little sad since its construction was really very advanced. Even the walls were plastered and the floors with their corresponding ceramics. Now, this place works as a canvas for those street artists who want to place their ideas on these walls, some very beautiful and others a little disturbing 馃槄.
Es imposible que este lugar abandonado no te d茅 algo de pena ya que su construcci贸n realmente estaba muy avanzada. Incluso las paredes estaban revocadas y los pisos con sus cer谩micas correspondientes. Ahora, este lugar funciona como lienzo para aquellos artistas callejeros que quieren emplazar sus ideas sobre estos muros, algunas muy lindas y otras un poco inquietantes 馃槄.
According to what we were able to see, these facilities had at least 14 rooms spread over two floors, each with an en-suite bathroom. From each of them there was a beautiful view of the ravine: surely, if it had been in operation it would not cost much to stay here, but for the location it would be worth it 馃槄.
Seg煤n lo que pudimos recorrer, estas instalaciones contaban con al menos 14 habitaciones repartidos en dos plantas, cada una con ba帽o en suite. Desde cada una de ellas se obten铆a una vista hermosa hacia la quebrada: seguramente, si hubiese estado en funcionamiento no costar铆a poco alojarse aqu铆, pero por la ubicaci贸n lo valdr铆a 馃槄.
But in addition to the art and all the drawings of all kinds that adorn the walls of this old hotel, we were also able to find quite a few acts of vandalism. In places there were places destroyed on purpose, burned things, garbage deposits and other features of human passage here. There were even traces of people who apparently had romantic encounters in these rooms, if you know what I mean 馃槀.
Pero adem谩s del arte y todos los dibujos de todo tipo que adornan las paredes de este viejo hotel, tambi茅n pudimos encontrar bastantes hechos de vandalismo. Por partes hab铆a lugares destru铆dos a prop贸sito, cosas quemadas, dep贸sitos de basura y otros rasgos del paso humano por aqu铆. Incluso hab铆a rastros de personas que aparentemente tuvieron encuentros amorosos en estas habitaciones, si entienden a lo que me refiero 馃槀.
At first I joked about this place and called my friends cowards for not wanting to go in, but after a while I started to get a little scared too. When we separated and each one toured the place at their leisure, I was left alone on the upper floor and I began to get disturbed for no reason. Maybe I was afraid that something would scare me when I left a room, or I don't know, but the thing is that I had to go back to where the kids were. The vibes of this place were very strange 馃槄.
Al principio yo bromeaba sobre este lugar y trataba de cobardes a mis amigos por no querer entrar en 茅l, pero despu茅s de un rato empec茅 a tener un poco de miedo yo tambi茅n. Cuando nos separamos y cada uno recorri贸 el lugar a su gusto, yo qued茅 sola en el piso superior y me empec茅 a perturbar sin raz贸n. Quiz谩s ten铆a miedo de que algo me asustara al salir de alguna habitaci贸n, o no s茅, pero la cuesti贸n es que tuve que volver a ir a donde estaban los chicos. Las vibras de este lugar eran rar铆simas 馃槄.
There is not much information online about the history of this hotel, just a little that the funds for its construction were provided from the National Treasury, but that in the 1980s its construction came to a halt. This is a real shame because it would have been a very nice hotel complex. Currently, there is only one small hotel along the entire 4 km route crossing the ravine and also a municipal campsite, but it is clearly not the same 馃槄.
No hay mucha informaci贸n en l铆nea sobre la historia de este hotel, solo un poco sobre que los fondos de su construcci贸n fueron provistos desde el Tesoro Nacional, pero que en la d茅cada del 80 su construcci贸n qued贸 paralizada. Esto es una verdadera pena porque hubiese sido un complejo hotelero muy lindo. Actualmente, solo hay un hotel peque帽o en toda la extensi贸n de 4 km de ruta atravesando la quebrada y tambi茅n un camping municipal, pero claramente no es lo mismo 馃槄.
Visiting the abandoned hotel in Zonda was one of the things I wanted to do because I'm very attracted to these places. The truth is I didn't think it was going to scare me a little but it did, even though we went in broad daylight. I also liked seeing these graffiti on the walls because they were very photographable, but I would have liked more if this construction had not come to an end. However, I'm glad it's at least left standing, since whatever form it is, it ends up being inhabited by people at some point 馃槄.
Visitar el hotel abandonado de Zonda era una de las cosas que quer铆a hacer si o si porque me atraen mucho estos lugares. La verdad no pens茅 que me iba a asustar un poco pero as铆 fue, aunque hayamos ido a plena luz del d铆a. Tambi茅n me gust贸 ver estos graffitis en las paredes porque eran muy fotografiables, pero m谩s me hubiese gustado que esta construcci贸n no haya llegado a su fin. Sin embargo, me alegra que al menos haya quedado en pie, ya que de cualquier forma que sea, termina siendo habitada por personas en alg煤n momento 馃槄.
