Greetings, Explorers and Other Viewers!
I am inviting you on a round along the western rim of Sofia. It's high spring and the grass needs stomping on. Well, so do the cobblestones and the asphalt but they need it every season. Also, the air needs some breathing. It's quite clean at the rim. Unless...barbeque pits pollute it a bit.
Approximately thirty minutes of walking away from my watchtower, that is where the city opens into some loans, crisscrossed by roundabouts and railroads. That area is the size of a small town.
A look back, citybound. That magpie just decided it should photobomb me.
Aperture F 5.6 — I can open up to F 4 but I wanted some more depth. Just a little bit more so that I don't defocus an object of interest.
Shuttter Speed 1/1600 sec. — Somebody has to compensate for that sunny weather.
ISO 200 — Yeah, not 100. It was sunny from time to time, indeed, but generally, it was overcast. Better be sure. And be quick.
The roundabout turning into a highway to Pernik, a town full of miners and steel.
Aperture F 8 — For even better depth.
Shutter Speed 1/400 sec.
ISO 200
Basically, it was a "One lens to rule them all" type of situation that day. My 70-200 4 L for Canon. And I switched between F 4, F 5.6 and F 8. I shall not bother you with more settings from now on.
Same scene, a little bit wider, so that on the right you can see the defocused base of a chimney. That chimney shall be our constant through a few more shots from various positions.
Here it is again. And a shepherd and a flock between the chimney and the city.
Tilt-shift-like filter used in order to make the sheep pop. Popsheep. Like popcorn but...more sheepish.
The barbeque site I mentioned earlier.
It was the obvious one. But people have nice houses and yards lining the city on this side. And the smell of grill was dominating the afternoon.
Otherwise, beautiful private properties. Like village houses but still in town, technically. I did decide to respect their owners' privacy. Turning my lens elsewhere.
A communal structure of some unknown purpose, standing near the corner of a small public garden. Those numbers in the circles speak to me of some game where balls hit the wall and score some points for that. No balls were spotted that day.
Walk long enough in the suburbs and somebody gets hurt. Eventually.
Later in the evening, back to my watchtower. You can see the red lights of the same chimney just below a humble horizontal bolt of lightning.
Taking another angle and going to the north, I approach another area which is on the rim again. I shall bring you in that direction some other time.
Thanks for coming with me on this short walk!
Peace!
Manol
