Kalemegdan is one of the largest historical cultural monuments and one of the most beautiful parks in Belgrade.
This fortress has always been a place of various events and legends, the remains of its walls and mysterious corridors still keep the secret mysteries of a past.
Kalemegdan was built at the confluence of two large rivers, the Sava and the Danube, the history of the fortress is very turbulent, it was demolished several times and rebuilt.
Today, the fortress houses a beautiful park, a zoo and a museum of old weapons. The remains of the fortress attracted my attention.

TODAY'S REMNANTS:
Entrance to the promenade in one of the most beautiful parks, which is still quite well preserved.
ROMAN WELL:
Roman well, as the people called it, but in fact it is an underground cistern, because there is no spring near it. The surface water from the plateau of the Upper Town flowed through the permeable soil and filled the well.
Behind the massive iron door, there is a legendary well that is like a labyrinth, the corridor leading to the bottom of the well is not very lit, the well got light through barely two small noticeable windows, but I photographed the corridor at the entrance where it is visible.
REMNANTS OF ANCIENT WALLS:
From the fortress, the view extends to the beautiful blue Danube and the nature that surrounds it.
Here are some remains, but on Kalemegdan even today there are a lot of visitors because of the large and very beautiful park, museum and zoo. The history and mystery of certain buildings that are in the interior are still alive and being explored.
