Yesterday, we somehow talked about my business trip to Baotou a few years ago
Right after the National Day holiday. I’d checked the weather and packed clothes accordingly before leaving, but halfway there, a heavy rain suddenly poured down, and the temperature dropped sharply. The cold hit fast and hard, so I had to put on all the clothes I could find in the car. I drove through the rain to the grassland and stayed in a yurt that night—it was my first time in one. When the rain lightened in the evening, my colleagues lit a bonfire. We gathered around the dancing flames, waved sparklers, swayed randomly to music and laughed as we “danced wildly”—that chased away some cold. But the heavy rain returned at night. I was so cold that I just wrapped myself in a quilt, turned on the electric blanket, and fell asleep without washing up.
Early next morning, we got up to watch the grassland sunrise. To stay warm, I wrapped myself in a sleeping bag and climbed a nearby high spot. Just as I was annoyed about my shoes soaked by dew and rain, a man walked towards me. I was shocked by his outfit: a loose T-shirt and knee-length shorts! He held a remote, controlling a drone to take photos. I stared, thinking, “Doesn’t he feel cold?” Even now, that scene feels funny and amazing.
The grassland scenery was fantastic—hazy green in rain, golden sunlight on grass at sunrise, and scattered wind turbines in the distance. It was vast and comforting; any random photo could be a phone wallpaper.
