There was an elementary school down a block from my house. I saw so many cars parked on my street this evening , and the parents walked with the kids to the school. All these kids were wearing Halloween costumes, Spider-Man, princesses, ninja, witches, or monsters…
I haven’t seen that many people around the neighborhood for a long time. why didn’t I take a walk after dinner to check it out? I saw teachers’ parking lot tuned to a Halloween fair, and the perimeter was surrounding with caution tap. A lot of parents and kids were waiting outside to get into the fair.
All the cars, trucks, and vans inside the parking were decorated with different themes, Jurassic Park, Candy Land, Unicorn, ghost truck, Dr. Sue Storybook, Monster… the owners were busy giving out candies. All the kids and parents were trick or treat inside.
My kids already grew up, and they were no longer going with me this time. I really missed the time I took my kids home to home trick or treat when they were under 12. They dressed up the way they wanted in the morning and went to school to join the parade. After dinner, I took them to neighbors’ house trick or treat. After the neighbors handed them the candy, they said thank you. I was standing on the sidewalk, and I always heard the neighbors said you both so cute.
I remember there was no such activity in the school last year. Now all of us try to live our life as normal as possible. Yes, COVID is still surrounded us, but we have learned it much more. We, the human know how to adjust our lifestyle to live in the pandemic time. Hope it will gone one day!
