"Garbage and Recycling Pop Art"
I created garbage and recycling artwork. I think there are many different garbage and recycling pick-up styles in the world. I actually like to think about recycling and garbage systems. I wanted to make a pop art style with garbage.
In my hometown, we had to buy garbage bags for burnable and unburnable garbage. Garbage bags are not cheap if we buy them all the time. That's why we should've reduced garbage as much as we could. Also, we had to bring garbage and recycled garbage to the area which is called a "gomi station (ごみステーション)." "Gomi" means garbage in Japanese. Each garbage zone had a different pick-up day. For big garbage, we also have to pay. Moving out is pretty tough work for people in Japan. There are many second-hand stores or online recycling communities. Actually, you can make good money selling second-hand stuff.
In a different city in Japan where I lived before, I didn't need to buy garbage bags. Also, I could just leave garbage in front of my house. There was a pick-up schedule that depended on the type of garbage. It was very convenient and easy! Japanese garbage trucks are very punctual and they play special music when they come to your area. That was very funny. The garbage workers are usually very friendly and hard working.
In Nova Scotia, Canada, we have to simply separate recycled garbage using clear or clear-blue garbage bags. For compostable garbage, we use a small green bin in our house. If I use a compostable garbage bag for the green bin, it doesn't produce a bad smell. There is a big green garbage bin for compostable garbage outside. Each house has this big green garbage bin outside. On the garbage pick-up day, we put all of our garbage out at the same time next to the main road. A big garbage truck comes every other week. If I forget to put out the garbage, I have to wait almost four weeks!
For the big garbage day, people go furniture hunting here before the big garbage pick-up day in spring and fall. Every time when I leave big garbage, some people pick up our big garbage as soon as I left it. This is a very interesting culture. We used to do this in Japan before big garbage day started charging fees. I feel happy that people recycle our stuff. For clothes or small stuff, we usually donate to local charity stores. There are many donation containers in Nova Scotia. Usually, those donations are connected to some kind of support project. For example, cancer survivors, children who need support, and more. I am very impressed with those projects. I started donating my stuff almost all seasons. We have many good recycling projects systems in the world. On the other hand, we still have a lot of issues with our waste including dangerous waste. It is our long-term topic.
"ごみとリサイクル のポップアート"
ごみとリサイクルのアートを作りました。世界には様々なごみとリサイクルのシステムがあると思います。私はごみやリサイクルのことを考えるのは結構好きです。ごみのポップアート的なものを作ってみました。
わたしの故郷は燃えるごみと燃えないごみ用に袋を購入しなければなりません。有料のごみ袋は安くはないので、ごみをなるべく出さないようにしなければなりません。そのごみは町内ごとのごみステーションに出します。各ごみステーションの収集日は異なります。粗大ごみも有料です。日本での引っ越しは結構大仕事ですね。リサイクル店やオンライン上の買取りコミュニティーが充実しています。売れるといいお小遣いになります。
日本の別の都市に住んだ時は、有料のごみ袋は必要ありませんでした。家の前にごみを出しておくと、収集車がやってきて持っていってくれました。ごみの種類によって曜日スケジュールが決まっていました。とても便利で簡単なシステムでした！日本のごみ収集車は時間通りで音楽をかけてやってくるのがとても面白かったです。作業員の方はとてもフレンドリーで一生懸命働いている方たちばかりです。
カナダのノバスコシア州では、単純に透明と青透明のゴミ袋を使用してごみを仕分けるだけです。コンポースト（生ごみ）は、たいてい小さな緑のゴミ箱に入れて、いっぱいになるまで家の中にためておきます。コンポースト用の袋を使えば、家の中でも臭いがあまり出ません。外にはコンポースト（生ごみ）用の大きな緑のコンポーストごみ箱があります。収集日に、道端に全てのごみを出しておくと大きな収集車がきて持って行ってくれます。２週間に一度の収集日です。もしごみ出しを忘れると、約４週間もごみが出せないことになってしまいます！
春と秋の粗大ごみの日は、人々が家具ハンティングに繰り出します。この粗大ごみの日に向けて家の前にごみを出しておくと、出した瞬間になくなってあっという間に誰かがリサイクルしてくれます。とても面白い文化です。日本でも粗大ゴミが有料になる前はこんなシーンがよく見られましたね。誰かが私たちの家具などをリサイクルしてくれるのはありがたいです。服やその他の小物はだいたいチャリティーの店に寄付します。ノバスコシアには色々なチャリティーのボックスが設置されています。例えば、癌と闘う人を応援するもの、サポートが必要な子供のためのものなど、色んな寄付があります。このシステムはとてもいいなと思います。各季節ごとにこの寄付を利用しています。世界には様々な画期的なリサイクル方法があります。その一方で、危険なものも含むたくさんのごみの問題があります。これはわたしたちの長期的な課題ですね。
I like this composting garbage system. I used a composter for my garden but rats and mice loved to break into my big composter so, I stopped using it for my garden now. Someone picked it up when I left it on the big garbage recycling day. It's maybe in somebody's yard now.
この生ごみのシステムは使いやすいです。庭の畑にもコンポーストを使っていたのですが、ネズミがすごくて、下から破って入ってしまうので庭用のコンポーストは今は使用していません。粗大ゴミの日に出した途端、誰かが拾ってくれました。きっと今は誰かの庭で活躍していることでしょう。
The clear blue one is for cans, plastics and bottles. The clear one is for paper and general garbage. Black garbage bags are not allowed anymore.
透明のブルーのごみ袋はプラスチック、ボトルや缶類用です。透明のごみ袋は紙や通常のごみ用です。黒のごみ袋は使用禁止になりました。
