One of my favourite flowers is called the eastern daisy fleabane. This is for all of our ancestors.
Pray for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan
August is a pretty sensitive season for Japanese people because we have a memorial day for Hiroshima and Nagasaki which were damaged by nuclear weapons on the 6th and the 9th of August. I mean Okinawa as well including all over Japan. (Okinawa memorial day is on the 23rd of June though)
Additionally, the 15th of August is the Day to Commemorate the War Dead and Pray for Peace which is also commonly translated the memorial day for the end of the war. However, it is also called Victory over Japan Day (V-J Day).
Moreover, around the 13th- 16th of August is called Obon(お盆) or Bon(盆). Obon is a fusion of the ancient Japanese belief in ancestral spirits. Obon is a Japanese Buddhist custom to honour the spirits of our ancestors.
August is a very mixed-feeling time for many people and families or a close gathering moment for many people. Kids have to go back to school someday soon. That's also part of the melancholy feeling.
The weather usually becomes a bit cooler after Obon season but the weather becomes very hot and damp these years. Hopefully, everyone is having relaxing summertime.

日本の広島と長崎への祈り
八月は広島と長崎の日があるので、６日と９日は日本にとって繊細な時期だと感じます。沖縄にとっても、日本全体的にもそうですね。（沖縄の慰霊の日は６月２３日ですが）
加えて八月１５日は終戦記念日もあります。公式な意味合いとしては、戦歿者を追悼し平和を祈念する日（the Day to Commemorate the War Dead and Pray for Peace ）というように英訳されているようですが、単に終戦記念日（the memorial day for the end of the war）と訳されているのが一般的だと思います。ただ、アメリカ側ではVictory over Japan Day（V-J Day）という勝利の意味合いがあるようです。
さらに八月は１３日から１６日ごろまでは先祖の魂が訪れるお盆の時期でもありますね。八月は親戚や家族など近しい人との集まりがあるでしょうし、いろいろな思いが混ざり合う月でもあると思います。子供たちにとってはもうすぐ学校も始まるので夏休みが終わりをむかえる時期で、色んな思いが混ざり合ったメランコリーな季節でもあるような気がします。
天気はだんだんと落ち着いて涼しくなってくる季節でもあると思うのですが、今の日本はとても暑いそうなので天候は落ち着くかどうかは不確かてすよね。みなさんリラックスした夏をお過ごしでしょうか〜。
