I've been looking for some good news for a while and I think this comes close. Sometime yesterday, the Governor of Kaduna State announced that the strict lockdown implemented in the state has been lifted and most activities can resume.
He did state that while all activities will resume, people still need to adhere to social distancing protocol, having hand sanitizers, thermometers and all that corona spacing shit. Oh, yeah, businesses are instructed to close by 3 pm and there's also a curfew between 8 pm to 5 am or some shit like that.
The Big Issue
So when this whole Corona shit started some months ago, I decided I wasn't going to get a hair cut until the sanctions are lifted in the whole country. It is my own form of peaceful protest and even though mine isn't as bad as 's swamp on his head, I think it is fairly scruffy.
People close to me think I'm going through some shit, while my dad, in particular, thinks the shit is too rough and I should get a hair cut before the police mistake me for a criminal.
With all hassles and complaints ignored, I've been really thinking about shaving the thing off lately. I'm quite comfortable with the beard, but the moustache, on the other hand, keeps getting into my mouth and is very uncomfortable.
The condition for getting a hair cut has been partially met in that the lockdown has been lifted locally. However, my protest was more on a national scale, and so I'm holding off shaving until inter-state travel is permitted on the federal level.
I don't think we'll ever get back to normal, but if we can get back to something close to normalcy in the next 5 months, then I'll take that as a victory. One thing that's for sure though, is that I'm not shaving this hair until I can meet and hug the loved ones that are far away from me.
