Greeting to you all from my own side of the globe, its a sunny Friday over here in uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom state, i know we all over here are faced with one basic challenge, fuel scarcity but we trust that God will come to our rescuer.
For about two weeks now, it has been on news that our basic petrol deports were filled with methanol-blended petrol, but unfortunately as the nature of things over here have been, the NNPC decided not to act on it until the methanol-blended petrol was in circulation, many house household and owners of machines that operates with petrol have been affected badly as a result of the methanol -blended petrol that was distributed. I had to call for a my mechanic to come check on the fault, only to find out that its the fuel that is causing the problem.
This happened as the state-run NNPC in a statement on Tuesday evening said it had commenced 24-hour operations at its depots and retail outlets to restore normal supply and distribution of petrol across the country.
The corporation said it has over a billion litres of petrol that is safe for use in vehicles and machinery as of Tuesday.
The statement read, “NNPC Ltd wishes to reassure Nigerians that it has put adequate measures in place to accelerate the nationwide distribution of PMS earlier disrupted by the quarantine of methanol-blended petrol.
“The quarantine was a necessary step to safeguard our customers from the potential impact of this PMS grade on vehicles and machinery.
“As of today, NNPC has over One (1) billion Liters of certified PMS stock that is safe for use in vehicles and machinery.
“To accelerate distribution across the country, we have commenced 24-hour operations at our Depots and Retail outlets.
“As part of NNPC’s strategic restocking, over 2.3 billion litres of PMS is scheduled for delivery between now and the end of February 2022, which will restore the sufficiency level above the national target of 30 days. LINK
As at Tuesday, news captured that fuel was sold at about #600 a litter in the FCT, with that i knew that it is about to happen again, on the early mornings of the next day, in my own city, as we were on a search for petrol, i discovered that many petrol stations were locked and a few of then were selling fuel but at a cost price.
Though the fuel price seems to be moderate but then the masses are really suffering as a result of the limited supply that is distributed at this material time, you can see the line up of vehicles and motorbike, stocked in the petrol stations, as a result transportation cost becomes high, it is now difficult for business people to move from one location of their business to another.
we all know about the epileptic power supply that we have experienced in the country over the years, is making it hectic for young people who are into business that need power supply, we all know how difficult it would be to feed from hand to mouth.
Please we plead that our leaders should always be prompt in the actions to restore situation that are going to masses generally, I know that this fuel scarcity will have effect on the politicians, and the so called democratic leaders, because even if a litter of fuel is sold at #2000, they will deprive us of our right then use that wish belongs to us to make life Good for themselves. we plead that what ever needs to be done, be done fast and of course the right way. thanks for having me , reporting from the city of Uyo. i hope to give you update as we see changes.
