AGAINST ALL ODDS
As a Nigerian, i have had to push against a lot of obstacles for example skip a meal or two to cover for health costs because of our poor health insurance policies, prepare for examinations under poor lightening conditions using candles and lanterns as PHCN could not provide a stable power source and i couldn't afford to fuel a generator.
Not to mention when the price of my transport fare from work doubled under 12 hours because of a surge in the price of fuel and i had to trek some distance to help meet up the increased expense and the rains made me their lovely guest.
I wouldn't even want to remember when my parents had to work so hard to meet up with the prices of goods due to the consistent drop in naira against the dollar.
It has indeed been a long rough journey but what next?
Against all odds do i break up or breakforth?
As a Nigerian i have learnt to take my life into my hands.
Diamonds they say, are forged from the hottest of flames and that i agree.
I have learnt to make no room for excuses. I have been pushed to think outside the box for survival, to set goals and focus on them because no body will do that for me.
As this athlete above, despite the harsh environment, pushes for her goal to succeed, likewise Nigeria has served as a training environment for me.
Having being stretched to almost my breaking point, ill rather break forth to a world of unlimited opportunities.
I have learnt preseverance, to build my stamina and to be happy despite challenging circumstances and for that ill always be grateful to live in Nigeria and to be a Nigerian knowing that one day against all odds i shall soar.
