Being a lady allows us to have this CHARM experience quite often. It's one of those perks we hardly speak of to make our male counterparts think we're "equal".
The CHARM of being surprised by a long time lover, the CHARM of getting gifts from total strangers, the CHARM of having our bills paid by men we have no interest in. It's all in the feminine package we hardly speak of. This package gets stripped off the moment we get married, so it has an expiry date I guess.
The charm, however, is only temporary. It's only a phase in the female's life which seizes to exist or just continues if she gets married to a man who values the charm. Well, it's all a part of the dream we hardly speak of.
I felt the CHARM about 9 years ago. But I was only 13 years old. What a paedophile that must have been! Totally fucked me up at such a young age.
Yeah, my CHARM wasn't a person. It was a place. An experience that lives in my subconscious and sometimes a memory I feel is a dream that may occur in my future. Maybe that's what it is.
That would be weird because I wouldn't know how to explain these images of myself in a younger body.
In 2011, my mother, sister and I spent 4 weeks in the United Kingdom together. Eating chocolate, cakes, pizza and all-round shopping.
An old picture of my sis and I
The trip started on a day in December. I cannot recall what day it was of course. But I remember the trip we took to the Port Harcourt airport, my very first time inside an aeroplane. We arrived at Lagos local airport an hour earlier and spent hours waiting for the boss meant to take us to the international airport for our transit flight to Heathrow airport.
Getting to Lagos international airport, we realized our flight was for the next morning so we had to crash at the airport.
Have you ever slept in an airport? Well, it was almost terrible. Coz there was a lot of us! Barely any space! I didn't get any sleep. I took a stroll around the airport at midnight. It had to be the most beautiful place I had ever seen at the time. I was blown away.
The next morning, our flight was scheduled for 7 am. So we got cleaned up at the airport fancy toilet. Pretty place. I could live there and raise my future 5 kids.
The 8-hour flight to the UK was wonderful. I covered up my lost sleep. Ate trashy food twice, coz economy class lol. But yeah, we arrived the same time as first-class, so not much lost there.
Now, arriving Heathrow was amazing. I was finally in THE ABROAD. Mad ooo
My mom and I linked up with my sister who was waiting for us at a spot. I can never forget the look on her face when she saw us.
We switched up our clothes coz the weather went from to bad to fucking deadly. We got these cheap gloves in Nigeria. Bruhh, those gloves are like chiffon in a -2 degrees weather, I kid you not.
The trip from Heathrow to Colchester was long. We got in and out of so many trains, had to have dinner inside one of these trains. I lost the feeling of my fingers and my toes coz people abroad can trek!!!!
Listen, people TREK!!! I don't get how people without cars survive that kind of lifestyle. But I managed.
I spent 4 weeks in THE UNITED KINGDOM. Daily blown away by buildings, food, people, lifestyle and structure.
This was a CHARM.
Wasn't a third-time CHARM.
It was simply a CHARM.
I look forward to having this experience again. But this time, not with my mother and sister.
I see a trip with my girlfriends and another with the love of life. Yeah, if he even exists, he better be open to the trip of his life.
My most memorable trip was to the UK.
And I look forward to being CHARMED once again by the beautiful city of London once again.
