Hive Open Mic ( #openmic ) is a global community celebrating live music on Hive. Each week is a new event, encouraging musicians to share songs with an international audience.
Recently, I cradled a wild rabbit, like a baby. This was a newborn brown bunny, barely hopping, somehow separated from his family. Some friends and I took turns caring for the bunny on a sunny Sunday, with the intention of safeguarding him through the day, until he was ready to run free.
I cherish this experience. It reminds me that we all play a part in safeguarding the little ones, and taking good care of each other. After my turn with the bunny, I drove away from our gathering, and that's when this sweet song arrived in my mind. "Some Bunny," could easily be replaced with "Somebody," but I like the specifics, and the sweetness of a song about a bunny who wants my presence, and needs my support, as if I am just the person the bunny needs.
The reason why I chose this song for this week's Hive Open Mic theme: "Reason for Living," is because I feel this bunny represents the planet, the animals, the children, the family... and all the little loves who need me. These give me reasons to live, and thrive, and take good care of myself, in order to take good care of them.
