The theme of this week’s Hive Open Mic #openmic is purr. Since it’s something cats do when they are pleased, it wasn’t hard to immediately direct my thoughts toward the felines.
I tried to find information about lions and whether they could do the same. As far as I have found, they can make just some gurgling noises that sound purr-like. Although maybe it is not the same as you would hear from a domestic cat, I can imagine lions with that purr-like sound.
Anyway, I continued with the idea to play something connected to tigers, cats or lions. There is one song that I like, from the animated musical film The Lion King. The title of the song is "Can You Feel The Love Tonight"; the composer is Elton John. I recorded it two days ago for this event and I play a piano version and only the first strophe because both would be too long and maybe boring.
Watching Elton John playing and singing at the same time is cool. He always has some nice grand pianos in his clips, and I will share here one video I think is pretty nice. With orchestra, and recorded live at Madison Square Garden, on "Greatest Hits One Night Only" concert.
The lyrics of the song:
"Can You Feel The Love Tonight"
There's a calm surrender to the rush of day
When the heat of a rolling wind can be turned away
An enchanted moment, and it sees me through
It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you
And can you feel the love tonight?
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight?
How it's laid to rest?
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds
Believe the very best
There's a time for everyone if they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn
There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors
When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours
And can you feel the love tonight?
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight?
How it's laid to rest?
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds
Believe the very best
The photo of the cat you will find in this post sure not represents a lion. But a smaller relative, a nice ginger cat. It would be less dangerous if we found ourselves next to it to listen to him purr. The photo of the piano is just my electric piano... How nice would be playing in a grand piano as Elton does? What do you think , would be the thing you are challenged to find be forgiven? Here you can find out:
