The sea is the word we received as a gift for this week's inspiration. We are currently in week number 66 of this interesting weekly event where more and more participants step on the stage. We knew the topic two weeks ago, it was announced together with the theme for week 65, and it allowed me to record my participation while I was still at home. For the next week, I will have to find a way to record my entry, but for now, let's focus on this one. The Sea.
Blue is one of my favourite colours, along with green and turquoise. I am lucky to be able to enjoy that colour all year round, as living by the sea it is enough to walk and observe the blue that the sea and the sky show me. But that blue colour, that huge mass of water is not always calm ... waves are a frequent occurrence at sea, regardless of the season.
The waves as a constant movement of the sea brought me the inspiration to choose the music for this week. It is a prelude, composed by Catherine Rollin. The broken chords in the right hand are evoking here the waves of the sea, constantly going up towards higher notes, and then over and over again, a similar pattern occurs. Like the waves in the sea, they are persistent and have repeated patterns like these broken chords.
The composition is written in C major, with this broken chord pattern in the first part. The middle section is more melodic and with a bit melancholic sound. The last section is the reminiscence of the first one, and this way it creates a structural balance of the composition.
Hope you will enjoy this sweet tune from the composition Prelude, written by Catherine Rollin.
