Hello everyone. It was a day to forget for Manchester United who almost continued the strings of bad results that have characterised their play for sometime now. Playing against Brendford at Old Trafford, many expected them to roll over Brendford since they are playing at home (Old Trafford) to end the series of bad results. By the 26th minutes of the first half, Man United were already down by a goal. That remained the state of affairs until McTominay popped up, struck and scored two quick late goals to restore parity and won the game (90'+3minutes, and 90'+7minutes). The stadium erupted into shouts of joy. It was a night to forget indeed.
Before Larry commences his deliveries for the day, he turns his attention to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from Germany. He finds out that on this day in 1949, the Soviet occupation zone of Germany adopted a constitution, forming the country of East Germany, which coexisted with West Germany until 1990, when the two Germanys reunited.
From Germany, Larry moves over to Afghanistan. He finds out that on this day in 2001, the Afghanistan War began after the September 11 attacks, when US and British jets began targeting Taliban targets.
From Afghanistan, Larry goes to the world of entertainment. He finds out that on this day in 1996, Fox News Channel, a satellite and cable news network founded by Roger Ailes for Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, was launched in the United States.
From the world of entertainment, Larry moves over to the middle east. He finds out that on this day in 1985, members of the Palestine Liberation Front, a tiny faction within the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) led by Abu Abbas, hijacked the Achille Lauro, an Italian cruise ship.
From middle east, Larry goes to South Africa. He finds out that on this day in 1931, Desmond Mpilo Tutu, a South African Anglican cleric who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his efforts in opposing apartheid in South Africa was born in Klerksdorp, South Africa.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in history from the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1952, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, Russian intelligence officer and politician who served as Russia's President (1999-2008 and 2012-till date) and as the country's Prime Minister (1999 and 2008-2012) was born in Leningrad, Russia, U.S.S.R. [now St. Petersburg, Russia]).
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
