Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for Saturday, the 7th day of November, 2023. Larry has been enjoying cool weather these days. It appewrs thr rains have receeded. Maybe dry season is about to set in too. Thats will be nice. To kickstart his day, Larry made for himself a cup of coffee ☕ and while sipping same slowly, turns his attention to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from the USA. He finds out that on this day in 2000, the United States presidential election concluded in a statistical tie between Democrat Al Gore and Republican George W. Bush, which was determined by the United States Supreme Court on December 12 following a protracted legal battle.
Still in the USA, Larry finds out that on this day in 2016, Janet Reno, an American lawyer and public officer who served as the country's first female attorney general (1993-2001), died at the age of 78.
From the USA, Larry goes to the world of music and entertainment. He finds out that on this day in 2016, Leonard Cohen, a Canadian singer-songwriter and songwriter who had a great impact and was well-known for his minimalist, existentially poignant compositions, passed away at the age of 82.
From the world of music, Larry goes to the world of space exploration. He finds out that on this day in 1996, Mars Global Surveyor, a robotic spacecraft planned to conduct long-term studies of the planet, was launched by NASA; contact with the spacecraft was lost in 2006.
From the world of space exploration, Larry goes to Russia. He finds out that on this day in 1879, Leon Trotsky, communist theorist and agitator, a leader in Russia's October Revolution in 1917, and later Soviet Union commissar of foreign affairs and war (1917-24), was born in Yanovka, Ukraine, Russian Empire.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today from the USA. He finds out that on this day in 2000, Hillary Clinton, an American politician, was elected to the United States Senate, becoming the first first lady to hold elective office.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry sios the very last drops from his coffee ☕ cup and then zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
