Isnd the opening matches of the football events, in group A, the USA U23 team defeated New Zealand (1-4), while France U23 defeated their Guinean counterpart by (1-0).
In group B, Argentina defeated Iraq (4-1) while Ukraine beat Morocco (2-1). The only consolation for Africa came from the Egyptians who defeated their opponent the Uzbekistan by (1-0).
Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from the world of the Olympics. He finds out that on this day in 1996, a pipe bomb exploded in Olympic Centennial Park in Atlanta, Georgia, killing one and injured 111. This was the first terrorist incident at the Olympics since the 1972 Games in Munich, West Germany.
From the world of Olympics, Larry goes to the Korean peninsula. He finds out that on this day in 1953, the armistice agreement ending the Korean War was signed at P'anmunjŏm (village, central Korea, in the demilitarized zone established after the Korean War).
From the Korean peninsula, Larry goes to the world of aviation. He finds out that on this day in 1909, the world's first military aircraft successfully completed one of the last qualifying flights before Wilbur and Orville Wright sold it to the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
From the world of aviation, Larry goes to France. He finds out that on this day in 1830, the July Revolution began in France, culminating in Charles X's abdication and the ascension of Louis-Philippe to the throne.
From France, Larry goes to India. He finds out that on this day in 2015, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was an Indian scientist and politician who contributed significantly to the development of India's missile and nuclear weapons programmme died in Shillong, India. He was India's President from 2002 until 2007.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from England. He finds out that on this day in 1844, John Dalton, an English meteorologist and scientist who pioneered the formulation of current atomic theory died in Manchester, England.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
