Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for tuesday, the 30th day of July, 2024. Happy new week everyone. How will the 31st day of July be? Will the country be locked down by the impending national protest against 'bad government'? The government, in a bid to avert this orotest by disgrunted citizens have called for calm and total cancellation of the proposed nationwide protest as some are not even planning to go to work.
Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from England. He finds out that on this day in 1540, Robert Barnes, a Lutheran pastor, was burned as a heretic after being used by Thomas Cromwell and King Henry VIII to gather European support for their antipapal campaign in England.
From England, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1863, Henry Ford, the American industrialist and vehicle manufacturer who revolutionised factory production with his assembly-line methods, was born.
From the USA, Larry goes to the world of medical discoveries. He finds out that on this day in 1921, Canadian scientists Sir Frederick G. Banting and Charles H. Best were the first to isolate insulin as a pancreatic extract.
From the world of medical discoveries, Larry goes to the world of soccer. He finds out that on this day in 1930, Uruguay defeated Argentina to win the first World Cup in football (soccer).
From the world's of soccer, Larry goes to Germany. He finds out that on this day in 1898, Otto von Bismarck, who served as Prussia's Prime Minister (1862-73, 1873-90), utilised ruthlessness and moderation to unify Germany, establishing the German Empire (1871) and becoming its first chancellor (1871-90), died in Friedrichsruh, near Hamburg.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1956, the phrase “In God we trust” legally became the national motto of the United States.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
