On a day like today in 1969 a Boeing 747 made its first flight.
The Boeing 747 is a wide-body transcontinental airliner manufactured by Boeing. It is known for its large size (it was the largest passenger aircraft for more than four decades until the Airbus company created the A380), and is among the most famous aircraft in the world. It made its first commercial flight in 1970 and was the first wide-body aircraft.
Launch Customer Northwest Airlines introduced the 747-400 in 1989.
