Plumbago auriculata is the cape leadwort, blue plumbago or Cape plumbago which is a species of flowering plant in the family of Plumbaginaceae, native to the South Africa.
The specific epithet auriculata means ‘with ears’, referring to the shape of the lovely leaves.
It’s used traditionally to treat warts, broken bones & wounds.
It’s taken as a snuff for headaches & as an emetic to dispel of bad dreams & astick of the shrub is placed in the thatch of huts toward off some lightning.
