I am delighted to announce a fresh contest to help the ShokiN team grow and get new uses to spend HBD. This weekly contest is called Refer2Earn. It is a contest to reward hard-working members who are ready to help us grow by bringing their friends to SpendHBD and Hive. Imagine the potential of each person bringing at least 1 friend and helping them to stay active on Hive. The potential for growth is endless.
Leveraging human connections for growth
Networking is easily one of the best ways to grow any project. Everyone has their circle of influence which is not limited to family members, workmates, schoolmates, neighbors and even random people met at public places. When these people are introduced to SpendHBD and Hive, the potential for growth would be massive especially if many users already on Hive are referring their friends to the platform.
Hive and SpendHBD is greatly undervalued because its web3 abd there is no special marketing team or budget. But the large community here represents the biggest marketing team or tool that could be effectively harnesses for growth. A Contest like Refer2Earn would provide the incentive to motivate friends here to bring their friends. Its a win-win for both the referrer, SpendHBD project and the community at large.

Refer2Earn contest prize
Everybody that participates in this contest is a winner. However, the amount to be won depends on efforts. So there are 3 major categories:
- Gold referrer: invited highest number of users - 4 HBD
- Silver referrer: invited the second highest number of users - 3 HBD
- Platinum referrer: All other referrers that invited at least 1 new user - 1 HBD

This contest is a weekly contest. Winners would be announced 7 days from now.
Monthly Awards for retention
Retaining new users have been a big issue on Hive. So while we encourage bringing new users, retaining them is even more important. As a result, we will recognize and futher reward ShoKiN team members for making their invitees stay active on Hive.
Beginning from this month of January 2025, we will hold monthly Hive meetups at the end of each month. During the event, we will recognize users that have retained their recruits and make them stay active.
Measuring retention and rewards
We will use these 3 simple metrics to judge retention:
- The new user makes at least 4 shopping transactions at a local business. (At least 1 transaction per week).
- Publishes a well-written introduction post.
- Engages with others by making quality comments on posts.
There will be top 3 awards for retention.
- Gold retainer: invited and retained the highest number of new users
- Silver retainer: Invited and retained the 2nd highest number of new users.
- Platinum retainer: Invited and retained the 3rd highest number of new users.
We will give out SpendHBD and Hive branded gifts to winners in this category. So we encourage all referrers to keep an eye on invited friends. They want to be sure that they are active and adding value to the entire Hive ecosystem.
