In my last post I was rather optimistic about my road to HIVEfest and I am still hoping that I will be able to make it. Turns out I have to get my passport at the embassy in Vienna. As of now, there is no way I will get a passport until it is too late to board the plane to San Diego.
BUT! I have another citizenship as well. So I will try to get my Hungarian passport renewed. I am rather positive that this will be an easier process than getting my German passport. Germany unfortunately fell asleep when the dot com bubble burst and they are really bad at digitalizing their public affairs. I tried to get an appointment at the official appointment web app of the German government. Any browser I use (yes I cleared cache I switched of VPN etc) keeps crashing on the scheduling software...
If I would still live in Hungary I wouldn't even have to leave the comfort of my home to get a passport or any type of government-issued document. You can simply sign via an app and that's it. If photos are needed for your document you can send those directly to the government office of your choice. Payment is made instantly with a bank transfer. You see where I am getting at.
Unfortunately, I have no residence in Hungary so this option is not available. But I have a lot of hopium that I will be able to book an appointment at the Hungarian embassy and get an express travel document.
My tax problems have not gotten better either. I still do not know the exact amount I need to pay but I know it is going to blow a significant hole into my finance ship and I will have to do a lot of fixing to not go under.
As of getting a free weekend from my employer, that is possible.
At least one of the bumps in the road avoided.
I am very hopeful that I will find a solution to all these issues, where there is a will, there is a way. HIVEfest awaits and I really want to go.
I hope this blog finds you in good health and mood! Have a nice weekend.
