The topic of SB Chronicle #29
In this chronicle, our friends at Silver Bloggers ask us to talk about the creative activities we would like to pursue in this new year 2026... what new skills we want to learn or, alternatively, which ones we have put on hold and want to take up again to complete or improve.
Tell us what knowledge and skills you would like to learn or improve this new year.
I enjoy drawing and painting, and for many years I've dedicated myself to oil painting and acrylic painting on clothing. However, in the specific case of paintings, the materials are rather expensive and somewhat inaccessible where I live. They're generally only found in specific places and are quite pricey.
I have several paintings I've created, and although some are finished, I haven't been able to get them framed—that's another issue. There's one I did many years ago, inspired by the little cabins I saw in the mountains while traveling along the highway in Mérida state, with a stream alongside and the snow-capped mountain in the background. I finished that one and it hangs on the wall unframed, until I can make that investment someday.
I have several canvases with charcoal sketches, some without any paint, others half-finished, and others almost complete, lacking only a few details. But the lack of certain colors and thinner has put that lovely work on hold.
Perhaps this year I'll make a point of it, and little by little, I'll buy the necessary materials and the missing paints to continue with this activity, which is more recreational and relaxing than creative. When I'm painting, my concentration is so intense that I disconnect from everything around me.
This painting, which hangs above my bed, is one of my favorites because it recreates a true landscape of Pico Bolívar in Mérida. It still needs white highlights on the snow-capped mountains and the frailejones, as well as other details on the rocks and the stream.
These sailboats are missing some of the ropes holding the sails, and the sky and the reflection of the sun on the water need more clarity. White is the fundamental base for all the mixtures, and it's the color I run out of the fastest. I need to buy at least two large tubes to make it last.
Another skill I'd like to pick up again, and in this case, I must say I need to improve and learn it well, is English. Although I have a basic understanding, I need to improve my vocabulary and pronunciation, the latter of which has always been my biggest challenge.

Hola a todos, muy buenos días. Hoy me integro a la iniciativa propuesta por la comunidad Silver Bloggers, titulada: Las crónicas de Silverbloggers - Pregunta n.º 29 - Aprendizaje y habilidades que te gustaría aprender o mejorar este año. y me gustaría invitar a mis amigas
El tema de la Crónica de SB #29
En esta crónica, nuestros amigos de Silver Bloggers nos piden que les hablemos de las actividades creativas que nos gustaría desarrollar en este nuevo año 2026… qué nuevas habilidades queremos aprender o también, cuáles dejamos en pausa y queremos retomar para concretar o mejorar.
Cuéntanos qué conocimientos y habilidades te gustaría aprender o mejorar este nuevo año.
Me gusta dibujar y pintar, y desde hace muchos años me dedico a pintar cuadros en óleo, y prendas de vestir con pintura acrílica, pero en el caso específico de los cuadros, los materiales son un poco costosos y más o menos inaccesibles donde me encuentro, generalmente se encuentran en sitios puntuales y no son nada económicos.
Tengo varios cuadros creados por mí, y aunque algunos ya están terminados tampoco he podido mandarles a poner sus marcos, es otro tema. Hay uno que realicé hace muchos años, inspirado en las cabañitas que miraba en las montañas mientras transitábamos la carretera del estado Mérida, con su riachuelo a un costado y la montaña nevada en el fondo. Ése lo terminé y lo tengo en la pared sin marco, hasta que algún día pueda hacer esa inversión.
Tengo varios lienzos con los bocetos trazados en carboncillo, algunos sin rastro de pintura, otros a la mitad, y otros casi por finalizar, faltándoles apenas unos pocos detalles, pero la falta de algunos colores, y el diluyente, pausó ese lindo trabajo.
Quizás este año me lo proponga y así sea poco a poco, iré comprando los materiales necesarios, y las pinturas faltantes, para continuar con esta actividad que más que creativa, es recreativa y relajante. Cuando estoy pintando, la concentración es tan grande que me desconecto de todo a mi alrededor.
Este cuadro que se encuentra en la cabecera de mi cama, es uno de mis favoritos porque recrea un paisaje verdadero del Pico Bolívar, en Mérida. Aún faltan matices blancos en las montañas nevadas, y en los frailejones, así como también otros detalles en las rocas y el riachuelo.
En estos veleros faltan algunos cordones que sujetan las velas, y más claridad en el cielo y en el reflejo del sol sobre el agua. El color blanco es la base fundamental de todas las mezclas, y es el que se me termina más rápido. Mínimo necesito comprar dos tubos grandes para que me rinda.
Otra habilidad que me gustaría retomar y en este caso si debo decir que debo mejorarla y aprenderla bien, es el inglés. Aunque tengo conocimientos básicos, necesito dominar más el vocabulario y la pronunciación, que ésta última siempre ha sido mi bloqueo.
