Man It's Been A Long While,
Has it not?
October 15th was my last post.. And it honestly feels like another lifetime ago. Life has been full of work and all those other busy things that tend to stack up before you even realize what is happening. I just have not found a quiet minute or two to sit down and write something about life since then. But here I am finally catching up and it feels pretty good.
Where To Start ..
The Cactus ..
Sad and Depressing
I suppose the best place to start is where I left off and unfortunately that comes with a bit of sad news. The cactus bloom came and went and I never got to see it open. I was not feeling well at all that night and laid down thinking I would wake up in the middle of the night to catch it. That never happened. By the time I was up the bloom had already done its thing. Such a disappointment but that is life sometimes. Every now and then life throws you something unexpected and all you can do is roll with it.
The Orchids ..
On a much brighter note the orchid collection is doing absolutely fantastic. Five out of my nine Phalaenopsis orchids are pushing bloom stems and should be blooming any week now. When they all open it is going to be such a rewarding sight for us. The Vanda orchids are also doing their usual dance. One just finished blooming and it seems like the two Vandas I have simply take turns showing off. I guess that means I am doing something right with their care.
I also repotted several of the Dendrobium orchids .. Using a new media mix of bark moss and pearlite. I am hoping this helps retain a bit more moisture around the roots and solves the crinkly leaf issue I have been battling. They also have not bloomed since I bought them several years ago so something clearly needed to change. This felt like the right place to start.
The Silver ..
Now let us talk silver prices for a moment. Wow right. Some of those larger buys I made back when silver was in the 12.00 to 18.00 dollar range are really paying off now. I am hoping this move higher can hold while I continue to dollar cost average in. That said I have not made any big purchases during this recent run until things stabilize a bit. I am curious what all my silver stacking friends are doing. Are you buying as normal or sitting back and waiting things out for now?
The Family ..
And now for the BIG NEWS around here. We have a new member of the family. Meet our new little princess ..
Hazel Grace Lancaster
We fell in love with her back in early October .. And it did not take long before my wife Huxley and I loaded up for an eight hour round trip to New York to bring her home.
From the moment she arrived it was clear she belonged here. She is an absolute cutie and she and Huxley get along better than we could have ever hoped. It is like they were litter mates. They run together play together sleep together and bring so much joy to each other. We truly could not have asked for a better match.
Hazel, like Huxley, is what they call an Imperial Shih Tzu .. And she will likely top out around four to five pounds. Huxley is sitting right around nine pounds now so she will always be the tiny one. Do not let her size fool you though because she has a huge personality packed into that little body. She is SO VERY Vocal and is assuming the dominant role between the two of them (And everything else in and outside of the home for that matter). She jumps on and off of almost everything and is afraid of very little within her new world. It keeps us on our toes for sure. I am hoping to carve out some time soon to share a few stories about her adventures once things slow down just a bit.
We Will Never Forget ..
Our terribly missed precious duo Molly and Pepper. Rest in Peace. We think of you every single day..

That's A Wrap ..
**For now I will wrap this one up and say that life has simply been full lately.
So yeah we have been busy lately.
