I decided to attach this post to the #SilverBloggers group because I feel that they will see the same thing that I do.

How to BOIL a Frog
I remember learning this theory in college.
If you put a frog in boiling water, it will jump out of the pot.
But if you put it in cold water and slowly increase the temperature, it will eventually boil.
This is a little lesson in acclimation. When changes take place so slowly that we tend not to notice or not bother with them.
I have noticed over the years that many routine products have been reduced in quantity without a reduction in price. Manufacturers just figure that the average consumer will not notice.
Yogurt used to be 8 oz and now it is 6oz.
A half gallon of Ice Cream is now 1.5 quarts.
And the list goes on.
This brings me to last week.
My wife and I were working on a project that required moving some objects that were mounted on the wall. I had removed them, patched the holes and prepped it for painting.
My wife saved some paint from our original painting project just in case.
While getting ready to paint the area, I just happened to notice that the gallon of paint was only 127 oz. which is one ounce short of a gallon.
This got me thinking
How much money has a paint manufacturer made with this little change.
I quickly searched for how much paint is sold in a year in the US.
The answer I found is 750 million gallons.
SOURCE
So now for a little math.
Let's say Joe's Paint Company makes 100 million gallons of paint
-If they skim 1 ounce off of every gallon that will give them an extra 784,401 gallons of paint.
Let's say Joe get $10 a gallon for his paint wholesale.
He is now making an EXTRA $7,874,015.00 all for nothing more than skimming off an ounce of paint.
In case you were wondering what happens with that missing ounce of paint.
Until next time,
