I really had almost no eyebrows, just a thin line above my eyes. All my classmates were the same, just a thin line for eyebrows.
Thirty years ago, super-thin eyebrows became fashionable. Many women even plucked them all off or left just a tiny bit. It’s a good thing I never did that, but I did leave just a thin line that I then filled in with a pencil. It was very easy to fill in because you just drew a line with color and you were done. When that fashion passed, many women’s eyebrows didn’t grow back (thank God mine did), but then a much worse fashion came along, and that was when they chose to tattoo their eyebrows to give their faces a little more shape.

Estaba pensando en una moda que haya desaparecido y que gracias a Dios lo haya hecho porque era horrible, viendo fotografías viejas vi mis cejas en el momento en el que me estaba graduando de la universidad, de verdad casi no tenía cejas, solo se me veía un hilito sobre mis ojos. Todas mis compañeras estábamos igual, solo un hilito por cejas.
Hace 30 años se pusieron de moda las cejas súper finas, muchas mujeres hasta las depilaban todas o solo se dejaban una puntita. Que bueno que nunca hice eso, pero si me quedé solo con un hilito que luego pintaba con un lápiz, era muy fácil pintar pues pasabas una raya de color y estaba listo. Cuando esa moda pasó, a muchas mujeres no les volvieron a crecer las cejas (gracias a Dios a mi si), pero entonces llegó una moda mucho peor y fue que optaron por tatuar sus cejas para dar un poco más de forma a su rostro.

I am truly grateful that thick eyebrows are now in fashion, where they are only cleaned up a little and shaped. Now I see girls who are starting to pluck their eyebrows and I think they look beautiful, because eyebrows shape the face, unlike in my day when we looked hairless. I don't often go to a salon to have my eyebrows plucked, but when I do, the girl tells me that I have quite a lot of eyebrows and gives them a very nice shape where they are thick, and then I just take care of maintaining the shape until the next maintenance session.
Que cosas más feas, tengo muchas conocidas que cayeron en esa decisión, porque para aquel momento era la última moda, además que ahorraba tiempo y trabajo porque solo se pasaban una hojilla por toda la zona y estaban lista. Ya para esos años las cejas las tatuaron un poco más gruesas que diez años atrás. Pero ninguna pensó en las consecuencias que eso traería más adelante, pues muchas con los años terminaron teniendo cejas de color verde y en la actualidad todavía hay muchas que no saben que hacer con ese tatuaje y están arrepentidas de haberlo hecho. Eso es lo que trae dejarse guiar por la moda sin pensar en el futuro. Lo bueno es que ahora existen métodos que ayudan a que se vean pobladas como lo es el microblading y micropigmentación de cejas, son procedimientos que se ven muy lindos y estéticos.
De verdad agradezco grandemente que en la actualidad se hayan puesto de modas las cejas bien pobladas, en las que solo se limpian un poco y se da forma. Ahora veo a las niñas que están empezando a sacarse las cejas y las veo hermosas, pues las cejas le da forma al rostro, no como en mi época que parecíamos lampiñas. Soy de poco ir a que me saquen las cejas en un salón, pero cuando voy la muchacha me dice que tengo bastantes cejas y me da una forma muy bonita dónde quedan gruesas luego yo solo me encargo de mantener la forma hasta el nuevo mantenimiento.
